"I always think the Divine is better viewed as a loving presence than the Sword of Damocles."

(I still haven't quite worked out how to quote stuff...)

I completely agree!! I'm not saying He doesn't have to judge, because He does, but His grace and kindness leads us to repentence, not His wrath :D

But I'm getting off topic...

I am fully open about being an atheist if given a reason. Depends entirely on the context given but obviously there no need to go out of one's way to randomly announce it, but that goes without saying for most things.

Openly Lutheran. Not ELCA Lutheran though, the "old" Lutheran.

Then again my entire area is either openly Catholic or openly Lutheran, and if it comes up between the two, we give each other crap about it. Then again my state is an odd state, opposite of most of the world, but I like it.

I don't have no faith but in terms of my views in that sort of area I don't discuss too much with ppl unless I know them well or they have similar views. I might be "atheist" but my views do not match most of those people and if anything some types of more open minded or fringe christians are easier to talk to.

I'm open about it, but not to the point of 'preaching' it.

Not something I really discuss about very much. Despite being raised Catholic I think it has become too off the stray from the fundamentals of the Bible. I digress, I'm open to discuss my beliefs about it and share some good, but I try not to sound too holy or righteous, because I fall so short

I'm openly Catholic. I have no reason to hide it any more than any other aspect of my life. It means a lot more to me than anything else because it's the basis for living. I may not be a perfect Christian but my faith is making me a stronger, better human being. That's not something I'd care to hide.

I don’t consider myself religious per se but I’m definitely spiritual. I don’t really discuss it much with others though, I feel like its my business what I believe, not theirs.

Relatively I guess? It's more for social/familiar reasons that I even have a faith. But I wouldn't say faith has always been a big part of who I am. There are tenants that I find respectable and many aspects I find archaic and unreasonable for modern society, and of course there's always the kind of people who take it way too seriously. But it's never been too serious an aspect of my life to where when I meet someone or have a profile on a website that I talk about my religion or anything. If it weren't for my husband's family I probably wouldn't be religious at all, and I'd probably only talk about it if people asked.

I don't hide I'm pagan at all and will answer if someone askes.  If anything it has made ppl seem to want to know more oddly.

I’m Catholic and proud of it. I don’t hide it and never will. Why should I hide something as meaningful as my faith when everyone wears their interests out in the open? I love being Catholic and I’ll proclaim it for all to hear!

I consider myself fully open about it but what I'm open about is that I dunno. I'm ethnically Jewish but I'm not practicing myself, and I have no evidence that any god(s) exist but can't conclusively rule it out. I don't think it's something that can be conclusively proven, and that's fine with me.

Do you let people know? Or do you keep it hidden out of fear of what people will think of you? Or, do some of you go as far as to deny your faith?

I mean . . . I don't just spout "I'd like to talk to you about Jesus!" to everyone I know. Because who would? It would be like me saying, "hi my name is Anthony, I like My Little Pony!" Or you could swap that out for anything you like, do, or believe in.

That said, I don't really bother to hide that fact. I often wear a cross necklace, I say a little prayer before eating at work where everyone can see, I say "God bless you" when someone sneezes, etc. I haven't really encountered anypony who has made a big deal and in fact, they're more often than not believers themselves.

I don't hide the fact that I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I think I'm pretty open about it. It was only when I served my mission that I'd talk about it first thing with everyone I met though. ^_^

None of us are perfect. All we can do is try to live up to God's teachings.
