Am I the only one who doesn't like fluttershy?

I used to have a disinterest in her (She never really stood out to me), and I thought it was because of that disinterest that I didn't like her. Turns out though, it was her fans that freak out at everything she does that made me dislike her. Who would've thought it?

 

But no I don't dislike Fluttershy anymore, though I still don't find her all that interesting compared to the rest of the Main 6.

Fluttershy is funny she's just not handled very well. Lauren Faust come back. >_<

 

She was the main source of comedy in the show for me though. To be straight all the characters have fallen in comedy after Season 2 though.

I've never disliked Flutters, though, she's obviously been handled sort of poorly in the past.

Thankfully, she's been tons better this season.

I sometime prefer Season 1/2 Fluttershy cuz she remind of Bubble in PowerPuff Girls  Sweet, Kind, Timid and A Bitch when situation called it  .

Fluttershy was immediately my favorite character as I started going through the series, because I identified with her the most.

I started liking her a bit less after some season 4 episodes such as episode 7, Bats.

 

I disliked that she defended the bats that were destroying the Apple family's trees, and was even portrayed to be in the right at the end of the episode.

 

Season 5 has helped regain some of my appreciation for her by adding some shades of assertiveness to her character between the false dicotomy between shy and mean that the show has seemed to force on her character in the past.

Ah Fluttershy's turn for one of these treads. I have to admit it's been a while since I've seen one of these.  Only Rarity and Applejack left.

 

As for Fluttershy herself, Favorite character on the show, hands down. I like her cause she kind and a welcoming and emphatic pony, yet is not obvious to the dark side of things and knows when to putt her hoof down. Does she have flaws.Yes, she is overly shy at time and it can be argued that her morals are retreaded, but same can be said for Rainbow Dash (learning not to be an asshole) Rarity (Stop focusing on some fashion thing and instead on your friends and loved ones) or Twilight Sparkle (Friendship is Magic, seriously that's like the lesson to nearly all the two-parters) so it's more a thing of the show then something directly related to Fluttershy alone.

 

 

Also just a side note I do enjoy Putting Your Hoof Down.

I like Fluttershy but not as much as the others in part due to her inconsistent characterization over the series of "learn lesson and then forget later only to be brought up when convenient" though a lot of her recent portrayals in both starring and supporting roles have been quite good which has bumped her up slightly.

She got what she deserved when RD reckt her at jousting. Consider it karma for what she did to her in Dragon Quest. Rainbow Dash is willing to do something with that she clearly hated, but did it anyway to be a loyal friend, and she can't even return the favor. Terrible friend. Doesn't deserve her element.

 

Really made my day when I saw a comment on EQD call her the most overrated pony ever and got 50+ upvotes.

I wont hide from this, while i wont say i "hate" her, she is however at the bottom of my lists of characters i like. She came up a few pegs back in season 3 but has since dropped back to the bottom since then

When I started watching, Fluttershy was my 2nd favorite character (after Twilight) & Rarity was my least favorite (WAY too big a Diva & a total Drama Queen).  But, Rarity has grown & suffered enough she only freaks out when called for.

 

All the Mane 6 have grown from Season 1 but Fluttershy has probably grown the least.  Still my 2nd favorite, but the gap is a lot bigger between 1 & 2.

To me, Flutters is kinda the Luna Lovegood of MLP FIM.  My first choice of favorite ponies was based on appearance, because I didn't know their characters very well yet.  Rainbow Dash was my favorite, followed by Fluttershy.  I still think they are the best looking ponies, but now may favorites are Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle. 

 

Flutters makes me cringe at times for being a coward, or for being so gullible.  But I think, as others have said, that Flutters reminds me of aspects of my own character that embarrass me when they appear.  Luna Lovegood was my second favorite Harry Potter character, after Snape.  But I could see why she was unpopular at Hogwarts.  Apart from being undeniably odd, she was too soft.  She was and easy target for people who wanted to be seen as tough. Not to mention her habit of always telling the unvarnished truth, albeit, without a trace of malice.  That's a trait I would love to possess.  For me, if I get it up to tell someone a difficult truth, I always come off too mean.

 

There is a stereotype of the woman with a lot of dogs, or of course, the cat-lady.  Such women are commonly regarded as being nuts, man-haters and/or "frigid."  I think some people see Flutters that way.  Flutters is an "animal person."  She's excessively soft-spoken, and has a few phobias. 

 

But she is sometimes able to rise above her weaknesses, especially if her friends are being bullied or are in serious peril.  The way she told off that dragon!  And anyone seeing the way she rolfs that big bear would have to re-evaluate her as a pushover.  She did wonders with Discord.  (If I was into "shipping" that would be my favorite.) 

 

Fluttershy is also a constant reminder that one must have patience with others who are weak where I am strong - because that's what I need when I am at the mercy of my own weaknesses.  So, no, I don't hate Fluttershy.  I'm very fond of her.  And she's so darn cute!
