I would say to wait maybe a month to upgrade, to let all the bugs and such be ironed out.

I think it'll take at least 3 or more months to iron it all out. My friends has got Win10 and he's been downloading drivers almost everyday :\

dunno if testing it out on other computers counts, but I have to say I'm not a fan.

I find it slow, glossy (too much so) and less of a tool and more of a "glitzy tryhard gimmick"

rather than a serious OS. I'm not a fan of the privacy issues, (even though they can be "Resolved"...my problem is that

they shouldn't have even been there anyway) I'm not a fan of the OS size, the amount of bloat included, the

amount of proccesses/background services...I prefer my OS's lightweight, efficiant, and less "trendy/AI enabled" than 10.

I don't like the start menu/live tiles, not a fan of the overall layout either. To me, it's just too much like a giant phone.

I'd rather have a computer personally. If you like it, then by all means...but for me? I'm gonna stick to the classics.

Not worth getting unless you have Windows 8

Yeah, I'm now dying on the inside. I would love to have Win10, but the school wouldn't allow it. That's one downside of having a school laptop :\

Plus, it's crap. My laptop now breaks almost on a weekly basis :|

I've been an Insider for a few months and the only real issue I had was the whole crapstorm with the Nvidia drivers and Microsoft's automatic updates about a week ago. But they fixed that with the tool that lets you opt out of updates as well as uninstall them. Overall, the OS is very nice, I'm glad to be rid of 8.1.

All you have to do is disable as much spying and sharing that Microsoft does on your stuff and it's completely fine.

If I disable the above mentioned items, should that allow my wifi network card to work again?

I'm having slight panic over finding a network card that has win10 drivers. I don't want to replace my linksys that I have now but it's making my computer useless so I am not seeing much choice.

For me, Windows 8.1 drivers have been working perfectly fine (except for graphics drivers of course). The major driver issue involves motherboard drivers, which may need a Windows 10 version to keep working properly. Now if your network card isn't working without Windows 10, I wouldn't expect Windows 10 to fix it. Turning off the privacy settings shouldn't affect the actual functioning of the network card, though. I would trying fixing it as it is first. If it's broken, then I would look up network cards that people say work with Windows 10.

Ahh. Geez I hope i dont have motherboard issues. My network card worked up until Friday night. Now, even 8 and 7 drivers do nothing to make the network show up. I asked Linksys if they plan to provide drivers and they said they had no information at this time and they said they don't have any other wireless adapters that have 10 support.

Oh man that really sucks. The best you can do in the meantime is to look up some troubleshooting, I can guarantee you're not the first person that this has happened to. I'm guessing you can at least find some steps to go through that might fix your problem.

Alright so a simple fix was to move the modem/router into the office and hardline the desktop. Everything else can still connect as usual.

But still. I still say it is a problem if wireless adapters do not have win10 driver updates soon. I actually can't believe the bigger name manufacturers didn't develop drivers before the upgrade went out.

I agree with you, they should have had more Windows 10-optimized drivers out sooner. My wireless adapter is USB-connected to my desktop, and it works fine with Windows 10 without installing anything extra for it. In any case, I'm glad your problem was semi-fixed! At least your computer isn't useless now haha.  :)

The USB adapter is a very reasonably priced option, surprisingly, and everyone I talk to says the connection is just as strong and reliable as a card is. I was prepared to purchase one today until we realized the PS3 could connect wirelessly. Then the light bulb came on haha.

Be ready to read a long text regarding Windows 10 as of August 18. It will be shown in the spoiler box:

I was initially excited to upgrade it from Windows 8 to Windows 10, even after I received no notification from Microsoft and used it for advancements. Barely a month later, however, problems arose. It restarted on its own without my consent, though I merely shrugged it off the first time I saw it happen. Days go by, however, and it becomes a nuisance, especially when I was performing my normal, daily activities. That was just a scratch on the surface, however. The real bad news begins with something else that's far worse than an unexpected restart.

The second problems I've encountered is that Windows 10 is unfit for PC gaming. Why, you ask? Well, you could say that its supposed to run with no issues, but after several days, you'll be realizing that you were wrong. Very wrong. I played GRID Autosport earlier today, but when I input Shift+Enter to browse other tabs, my game suddenly crashed. Same goes with the recent Anarchy Arcade, among others which I didn't dared to try because I knew that Windows 10 will crash the games I minimized them just for a quick browse around tabs.

Before that, I did uninstalled and reinstalled some of the games in order for them to run smoothly. Too bad that was only temporary. As I mentioned before, hitting the Shift+Enter just to look at the browser tabs will result in the game you're currently playing to crash randomly after a few seconds. I've begun to lose trust with Windows 10, realizing that it was far from a perfect upgrade. In fact, it was a fundamentally flawed upgrade that lost my likeness to it. You could say that its better than Windows 8 and other previous systems altogether. Well in the end, Windows 10 had hit an early nail in the coffin after its detest for PC gaming on Steam and being a nuisance by restarting on its own and disrupting my normal activities.

I gave it a chance for it to wow me. Instead, Windows 10 only managed to get it under my skin enough for me to change my mind and revert it back to Windows 8. As much as I loved Microsoft Edge, it is still outclassed by Opera in my honest opinion, because its still easier to navigate and the interface isn't as complicated as Edge would (to me, Explorer would still beat Edge because the Edge has a complicated layout and an eyesore to look at). Sorry to say this, but you've had your chance, Windows 10. And you've wasted it. I upgraded it for nothing, and it caused more harm than good.

I hate to say this regarding Windows 10. I knew it had a lot of potential. But in the end, not only was I never notified from Windows 10 by Microsoft int he first place, but it was flawed and far from perfect and its problems ranging from sudden restarts to random crashes during PC gaming has forced me to turn around and revert back to Windows 8 and completely eliminating Windows 10 altogether. I know I'll probably get defensive replies from this, but this is my choice. I did liked Windows 10, but Windows 10 itself did not returned the favor for me and I severed all ties with Windows 10 altogether.

So there. Microsoft should've waited at least a year or two before releasing it fully, so Windows 10 is not for everyone, nor myself. Shame it was so flawed that it makes it far less useful than Windows 8.

So there you have it.

Oh, and here's an extra fact: Windows 10 also disallows me from getting access to the Windows store because it says that its not available in my country/region, which was another bad move from Microsoft. With Windows 8, you are not restricted from the Windows store whatsoever. All of the more reason to become disdained with Windows 10.

Definitely! There's many good things that Microsoft put towards this OS, but I wouldn't be able to get Win10 for another few months :|

Currently getting a desktop put together, it's taking its time ^_^

  • 7 years later...

Windows 10 started to use very thin edges on windows, which make them difficult to adjust size and position. It is the thing that I dislike the most and why I still use a dated Windows 7 machine to this day.
