gaming Game Music that sound the same as music in other games

Hello, I've just discovered that some music in some video games sound very similar. ''Reckless Running'' from Sega Rally and ''Waluigi Pinball'' from Mario Kart DS have the same opening riff. And a very common riff that was also in ''Uptown Funk'' by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars was in ''Rainbow Road'' and ''Around a Letter'' from Mario Kart and Sega Rally.

What do you think? I also think that a lot of game songs are suspiciously similar. I also think that ''Big Chase'' from Virtua Cop sounds similar to the boss music from Diddy Kong Racing.

What do you think?

The reason why I think it sounds similar to Virtua Cop is that it sounds similar to the Model 2 version. As it is the same Midi as Model 2 games.

This is the first one that pops up in my mind (you have to skip the intro of the ALTTP song to see it):

Found another one, Spacedust Alley from Diddy Kong Racing sounds very similar to the Metal Gear theme.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqqq8uqSDnk

A Lot of the instruments used in Sega Model 2 can be found in Roland Midi Keyboards. SupperTails managed to use OpenMPT to extract all the Midi files from the Daytona USA ROM, though I don't know where they located. Even Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's ''Duuus'' and ''Deees'' are in there!

I don't know what Synth Sega actually used for their Model 2 games, I know they used a Motorola 68000 processor. And I think I overheard someone say they used a Yamaha Keyboard. I don't know what synth they used for the Saturn version of Sega Rally though.

Renard Queenston, who is a DJ in the furry fandom. Also managed to extract the Daytona USA Soundfont and use them in his song ''Daytona's Revenge''. He made another song as his fursona Negaren. But for the sake of this topic, I think this will explain OpenMPT sampling a bit more.

RE: The Metal Gear Solid video user prevented playback on other sites. So you will have to click the link.

27 seconds in

The SCP jumpscare sound effect is in like every indie horror game to date.

We're not referring to Sound Effects, we're referring to Music.

Anyways, A lot of songs, sound very familiar in the video game world. On another slightly OT subject. Euro Fight and Slippin from Sega Rally 2 are very similar to Madness's ''Baggy Trousers'', specifically the last bit. Although in the latter's case this is because it's a Ska inspired song.

Let's face it, the era of Madness is over. They're not as popular as they used to be. If you ask me, they were the progenitors of Eurodance.

Two, actually. One from a game and another from a real song.

I always thought this song

and this song

https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PL41402AAA637489F0&v=hUppUBbwmgQ

sound similar.

And I always thought this song

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq9mipSqeC4

was heavily inspired by this song

Does anyone know how to make the video appear instead of a link text? It's annoying that I feel this happens at random

Yeah, I remember you saying that in one of my other threads. Feel free to talk about how some game music sounds like real music. I don't think The Hangar Theme from Doom is based on Master of Puppets though. Because, as I have just realized. Master of Puppets is too depressing a song. It's about someone who succumbs to his heroin addiction.

Them and Us by Bad Religion sounds  a lot like Night of Nights from Touhou. Specifically 0:28 to 0:33.

That's one other example I know which I like.

Also, I accidentally double posted, I thought it would connect.

This is one that everybody knows. The boss theme from Spider Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage, is the exact same theme, as the song The mob rules, from Black Sabbath.

This is one of my favorite match.

This song appears in other iterations of Mario Kart, like MK7's Rainbow Road.

And not only do these two have the same song, the tracks are identical.

Talking of which, I think that ''Desert Grit'' from Daytona USA 2001 for the Dreamcast, the chanting in it, sounds a hell of a lot like the Chanting at the end of ''Monkey Wrench'' by the Foo Fighters.

It's very awesome, I must admit. Both songs, even if ''Desert Grit'' is not a post-grunge or grunge song. More of some sort of grungey cowboy song. Is this ''Grunge Country?''.

Thinking about it now, this thread should be renamed "The Kenji Yamamoto(DBZ) Thread"

Just to name a few

Didn't he get sued for a plagiarism lawsuit because of one of the songs in those games?

I don't think so, but he got fired once it got out that he plagiarized a majority of his songs throughout his entire career.

Here's the Green Forest theme from Sonic Adventure 2.

From 30 seconds onwards, it sounds very similar to Americana by The Offspring. The part in question is at 1:09.

I was randomly listening to Black 2/White 2's OST and I already found another one!

Lol. Another one of Meleotta's songs also reminded me of some pop song, but I could not recall which one. Maybe it's intentional.
