  1. 1. Is Rarity a gold digger?

    • Yes, she would jump at the chance!

    • Maybe, depending on if the stallion was good or not.

    • Not at all, Rarity would never do such a thing!

I would not think so,  yah she love the idea of it which she has shown.   Yet  she has grown a bit in the last few seasons and I don't think she would in having a highly independent mind and will.   Also just to give up all her hard work in her shop would just be a waste I don't think Rarity would do.

I would think if the stallion wasn't as bad as Blueblood she would. If he was only 70% of what Blueblood was and had the title and money she would fall for him. One tiny ounce of chivalry is all that is needed to woo her.

Nope. It was shown in The Best Night Ever that the pony she would marry has to treat her with kindness and respect.

This.

However, it's definitely fair to assume that she would choose to marry someone in a station above her own...

...unless the pony in question happens to save her life:

I think she might get things arranged to do so, but ultimately, her morality (yes, she has it) would get the better of her, and she'd call it off... probably at the last minute.  Mind you, she might also try to find a better match for her 'betrothed' - she wouldn't be able to let the poor dear go on pining for her forever, darling.

No. She has tried that before in Best Night Ever and learned why that's a stupid idea. Granted, she seems to be a pony more attacred to staions that are well known, as shown with Blueblood and Trenderhoo but I don't think it's money that's the main reason.

  • 3 weeks later...

I don't think so. I just think she wants her name out there, but I highly doubt she'd marry just for that. She needs someone who respects her, as shown in The Best Night Ever.

She's a better person than that, come on.

I have a headcannon that she will likely continue to date other ponies she sees as cultured and handsome for many years, but all of those relationships will eventually fail. The only pony that can be as doting on and caring for her as she requires isn't even a pony...  ;)

No. Class and sophistication are elements that attract Rarity, but she was able to identify issues that didn't reconcile with her more crucial needs first, so that eliminates the first choice. In my experience, women like Rarity tend to thrive on attention (not a bad thing) and reciprocate in equal measure. That is her first measure of importance at this stage.

So is it the second choice or third? Obvious her canon attributes allow the opportunity for a less sophisticated or elite pony to win her affections. She was able to amass enough money for a prime commercial real estate in a capital city so she isn't a mare of little means. It would be factor, sure. Not a dominant one ... and not to the exclusion of other options.

I think part of her WANT'S to marry for that kind of thing, but her own moral compass simply wouldn't allow it if the Stallion was no good. I think this point was made plainly obvious in the first season, she wants to think of BlueBlood as this thing that signifies wealth and status, he isn't really a real pony to her. When she actually meets the person she held up as this thing that she could use to attain her dream, she finds him to be shallow and selfish and just couldn't possibly see herself with him regardless of the kind of status she could get out of it.

There is that selfish wealth obsessed side to her, but its tempered by her selfless and generous qualities. She then would value who that pony is over what they have.

Which is why Rarijack is best ship

I'd like to say, based on how she even lives in her boutique, she has various celebrity clients, she was able to afford a second boutique in Canterlot (which, let's be honest, wouldn't have been cheap), the quality of her dresses, and her talent which allows her to locate gems, Rarity would be the one a stallion marries for wealth.

Realistically speaking, Rarity should be "rolling in dough," so to speak. This, along with her morals and more matured personality (now compared to before), I don't think Rarity would be a gold digger.
