Do you unbox your merch?

Do you unbox your boxed pony merch, or do you prefer to leave it as it is?

I used to tear into my merch as soon as I got it, but recently I've started to leave things in their boxes. I'm not sure why, but I think it's because that way it preserves their value, and personally, something about just throwing away a box feels wrong... That being said, there are times when I just want to rip a package open because its contents look so good... grr! :okiedokielokie:

I never buy anything that I don't intend to open and display.  I think every product looks better outside of its package, and I like to move them around and look at them from multiple angles.

That being said, I do keep all of the boxes for my Funko vinyl figures, because if I ever decide to sell any of them it is a simple matter to put them back in the box.  I discard any packaging that I have to destroy in order to open though.

All the time. Collecter's items look better without the boxes. Are you trying to display a cool figurine or are you stocking a shelf full of merchandise for sale? I couldn't bear the thought of keeping a guitar in a glass box...

I ALWAYS unbox anything I get. I'd keep the box if I had a warranty that required it though or if the box is usable as storage. I gotta be able to play with it and display it in anyway I want and the box would only get in the way. Boxes are meant for storage and forts, not for looking pretty.

The Chicken Pinkie and Sci-Twi doll are the only two things I have MIB in my entire collection. Anything I buy new gets unboxed (although I tend to keep the packaging folded up) and I never buy MIB ponies secondhand just because it's cheaper to get them loose. I also like to have them out of the package so I can look at them better. Not to mention, with the current size of my collection, keeping them all MIB would take up more space than I could possibly manage.

This dragon doesn't unbox merchandise now because this dragon enjoys them staying at the highest quality possible and the boxes don't get torn up either which is a big plus, over all, I find more worth keeping them boxed than unboxing them.

I always unbox everything I buy, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I don't intend on selling it anytime so (not that it would be worth anything unless I tried in 50 years) plus it leaves more room to display things when they're not in boxes. I do keep the boxes for all my pony merch though, just because.

I leave the vast majority of merch I buy in its original packaging, unless it is for apparel. Only very recently have I taken anything out of its packaging that was not for this purpose, that being an amazing Babs and Applebloom figure set thingy, that I now have on display. :3 I could not resist that, it is Babs! Everything else though stays in the packaging.

I thought twice about unboxing my Vinyl figures when I got them, but I decided to eventually. The boxes for those figures are really nice, and I don't really want to get rid of them, so I'll probably keep those around :squee: but it's easier to display merchandise when its u boxed because the boxes take up quite a lot space. So yes, I unbox my merch, and plan to in the future, but I'll always keep the boxes somewhere! :yay:

I bought only two figures in all my life (I've stopped buying toys a long time ago). And these two, I ripped the box because I intend to participate in ths next ED' Ponies Around the World

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm currently collecting the POP Figures and haven't unboxed any of them. They're all nicely displayed in their boxes. Part of me really does want them out though. Maybe I'll just have to double hehe any excuse! :-)

:pinkie: I unbox everything.

:fluttershy: My whole thought on it is: if I'm going to be spending anywhere from 30-100$ on merch, :sunshower: I want to be able to look at and admire it, not let it untouched, and sitting on a shelf somewhere.

 I understand the appeal of people who are collectors, and they want it in mint condition... :squee: but I don't plan on selling my pony stuff, I bought it to enjoy, not to sell.

The only things I have MLP related in merch are two figures one of Rainbow Dash and one of Fluttershy and I've never opened them since I bought em.

I am actually one of those people who will buy two of everything when it comes to MLP-FIM. The only exception is when it comes to the plushes. Because of this I don't collect everything that comes out. For example when the Cutie Mark Magic ponies came out the only ones I got were Sweetie Drops, Daisy Dreams, and Skywishes.

I collect the MLP Funko Vinyls. Back when Funko was first putting these ponies on the shelves, their paint jobs were really mediocre..the pony models were great, but the paint had smudged or dripped. Nowadays, since Funko has gotten a definite okay from Hasbro to continue working on these vinyls, they are better painted and are much higher quality. I used to take my vinyls out of the box to check and see all the bad paint jobs they had been given...but now I take them out once, and put them back in and place them somewhere safe so nothing can get to them. I will occasionally take a few vinyls out to glance at them because I like them so much!
