spoiler Could Twilight have become Midnight?

So I'm wondering if Twilight didn't meet the mane 5 and Elements of Harmony and continued on her studies I felt she might have ended up as Midnight. Remember Twilight possessed incredible magic power before she even met the mane 5.

Twilight seemed to possess a very vast supply of magic power that she couldn't harness before until she was placed under Celestia's wing. From what I saw with Midnight Sparkle in Equestria Girls. If Twilight didn't discover the Elements of Harmony and reached her full potential could she have become Midnight Sparkle an uncontrollable version of herself instead of what she is now?

I could definitely see that happening. She would also have been like moon dancer before she turned into Midnight Sparkle! The way I see all of this going down is that she goes into the restricted section of Celestia's library, finds a book about dark magic, reads it and then finds out she can have all the magic ever!

Yeah, I think eventually Twilight would have became powerful enough that she wouldn't be able to control her powers. But might be ages after..... What I'm saying here is that it wouldn't happen in the current time frame, but would happen way into the future from where we are now.... (darn it, finding it hard to explain :|)

Without the proper socialization and proper discipline I could easily see Twilight dabbling in things she does not understand while possibly becoming corrupted in the process of doing so. I would say it is a possibility.

It is very likely, considering how simple it can be to corrupt a pony. It just takes one event to set one down the wrong path and I am sure that without friendship, Twilight could have easily fallen down it.

that would be a game changer for the show but I have one drawback wouldn't have Celestia sent Midnight Twi to Tartarus. but I prefer Celestrial Sunset Shimmer to Midnight Twilight

It would probably only happen if something triggered her magic, or she came in possession with dark magic. It's hard to say because in EQG3 she got ahold of the Mane 6's magic and it turned her evil, whereas when she got her cutie mark in FiM it was her own inherent magic that kind of got out of control. So something would have had to happen in order for her to turn into Midnight Sparkle (if she did that would be awesome).

Given how Midnight Sparkle exists only out of pure contrivance and for the sake of an "epic" climax, I'm going to say no.

I'd say no. Even with all her magic, twilight is STILL just a unicorn. could she turn evil? Possibly. But she wouldn't turn into a corrupted alicorn form on her own.
Unless she got her hands on a powerful magical artifact that would transform her into an alicorn, she's not going God mode anytime soon.

How was Midnight Sparkle exactly contrived again? 

Well, I have heard it complained many times in threads on derpibooru and ponychan that Twilight, being good at heart and not megamaniacal (compared to sunset in the first movie), and the magic from the mane six not being dark magic, made twilight going insanely evil to be a bit of an asspull, compared to how it made sense for sunset to turn into a demon in the first movie with magic due to her being evil from the start.

Eh. I figured all that magic ran to her head as she lost control, but her primary motive to learn about magic remained the same albeit exaggerated as Midnight, and her disregard for others reflected the idea of  Twilight giving up on having friends while going at it all alone.

 

Friendship magic can also be corrupted into something else as seen in the first and second movies, as the intentions between Twilight and Sunset were clearly different in the climax, and that right there may be the difference between corruption and not being corrupted.

 

That's my take on it, however the film did not state this directly so some confusion would be understandable.

Honestly I feel they should have focused more on Sunset's tirade against her as the catalyst instead, as her putting her faith in friendship and then having it slammed in her face by Sunset seemingly rejecting her from the group would have been a good explanation for her actions. If one is able to headcanon that as the catalyst her transformation works alot better (While I hate FG I at least find that part innoffensive, though I understand why others dislike it)

Magic, to me, in the Equestrian Universe works like this; if you have evil intentions with the magic you posses, the outcome will be to turn you evil. If you have good intentions with the magic you posses, your magic will work with good intentions in mind. That would explain why Sunset, when faced with Sci-Twi in friendship games spontaneously became her good half alicorn princess; the magic she gained when tossing Sci-Twi's magical location instrument on the ground was enough to completely change her and give her the ability to take on the evil before her. 

 

There are also other factors to work in, like how much magic can change you, and all that. I believe Sunset and Sci-Twi were hit with enough for both of them to become the half alicorn beasts they were in Friendship Games.

But that's as much a probability as anyone else with that kind of potential but how she handle's it and works with it really makes me say No. Her intent, her ideas, her outlook.
