chirox the pony 1,336 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 There are hundreds of topics asking this same question and every time people will say the same thing "I don't know". There has been nothing from Hasbro on G5. Although there is evidence that might support the idea that G5 is in development. Although it will be very early in development so by now they're probably looking at various pieces of concept art on what the ponies should look like. So any opinions given now would be simply ideas from fans as to what G5 could be. 1 No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me. JonasDarkmane 19,785 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 It depends on the characters. If the characters will have relatable personalities or not. That after some amount of time, the franchise can be revitalized, made over, and helmed in another direction that is new and will pull a fresh fanbase in? By fanbase, I don't mean us, but their targeted demgraphic, which by nature has a rather fast turnover rate ...
Lil Pip 775 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 (edited) What about G4.5 (20 years from now: G9 and three quarters ) They could set up the CMC or something for it. In another thread they discussed evidence of some writers going to work on other projects in a few years. While that doesn't have to mean the show will end with the MLP movie, there is the possibility of it occurring. But I still think if the movie does big it could be like Pokemon. G5 might be too big of a risk if they didn't learn from their mistakes from the other generations. But alas, toys. So this means it will happen eventually. They need to replace the whole cast to remarket toys. This means G4 will come to a close. But will it be G4.5 or G5 that comes next? Honestly a G4.5 might ruin it for some people, but it gives it a chance to be a new start untouched by bronies. Or will Hasbro get greedy and try to incorporate them again? A significant portion of Hasbro's success was thanks to bronies, they might not want to give up the demographic so easily. So they actually might make it even more mature to appeal to more people. Its possible the next generation won't be as bad as pre g4, no offense to those who like G1. Its not my cup of tea. Perhaps this is where Hasbro finally learns like Disney, that marketting to adults is where the money is at, more specifically families. Families cause devotion to said brand, and because theres kids that means more toys being sold, I mean who would get mlp toys from pre g4? Kids asking their parents, not the parents watching the show enjoying it, then planning on getting it for their kids even more so since they like it as well, even more than the kid perhaps. If they market it again to only kids, theres no reason to buy the older merch as an adult either or check what future generations are doing. They need to approach it more long term. And with cartoons like Steven Universe coming around, they will need to market it properly. So whatever happens theres a high chance of it being good, even if Hasbro Exec's get profit tunnel vision. Unlikeable Pony 2,698 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 Well, I probably will jump ship at G5. I don't care about the concepts of magical ponies as a concept, I don't care about the concept of a magical world as a concept. What I care about is the CHARACTERS and the theme of the show (Things like the EOH, the mane six, their adventures and the villains they fight). So, when its gone, its gone to me. I don't really care too much about what comes next. Its like with Digimon, I stopped caring that much about it after Adventure 1 and adventure 2. No but in my opinion I think G5 could be like a revamped up G4 with maybe another plot about something other than friendship with the same characters or something, ok I don't know graphic design is meh pession Twilight Sparkle Pinkie Pie Applejack Rainbow Dash Rarity Fluttershy

I wish for a G5 but I don't think it'll happen This is Hasbro we're talking about. Just look at Transformers. Very quickly after TF: Prime ended, a sequel series, Robots in Disguise, came out. Hasbro almost always reboots its franchises after they end. 1 Credit to @Kyoshi for the signature!
The Coffee Pony 1,390 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 (edited) Honestly I think MLP will be dead after the five years Hasbro is planning on doing for G4. I wish for a G5 but I don't think it'll happen It's going to happen. Once a company sees that a franchise is a big money maker they're going to keep making shows for it. When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got a toyline and cartoon in 1987, it became a successful franchise and is still making a lot of money to this day with 3 cartoons, 5 movies with a 6th on the way, a live action TV Show, several comics including the original from which the franchise spawned, etc. Same thing with Transformers, it's been around since 1984 and we've been getting a lot of comics and television shows out of it. My Little Pony has been around since 1984 and this generation has been their most successful incarnation yet. Believe me, they'll keep making TV Shows out of it. Hasbro knows that if you want to sell toys, you have to make a good TV series to go with it. They learned this with Transformers through Beast Wars and every North American TV Show since then has been pretty good and there's no doubt that they've learned that same lesson with My Little Pony through Friendship is Magic. Rawzy 1,302 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 Well, I think we have to stop and just think about this for a second.....you guy's have seen the jump in graphic design and special effects and stuff from G3 to G4, to go from G4 to G5 they would need to come up with something that looked even better than it does now. They would also need to make sure that they had the ability to develop and improve these special effects has the season went on. Personally, I think asking for G5 is going to be like asking for Half Life 3. 1 Think For Yourself. Be Yourself.
The Coffee Pony 1,390 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 I hope G5 retains G4's art style. If nothing else, please keep that, Hasbro. If they don't retain the artstyle, don't judge it for that alone. I've seen many a cartoon with an art style that's off-putting at first but when you sit down and watch it, you grow fond of the story and characters and eventually get used to the art. Spectacular Spider-Man and Transformers Animated are two of the best examples, imo.

Twilight Frost 271 October 12, 2015 Share October 12, 2015 I think it is a bit early for talking about G5 since G4 is only a little over half over right? We still got like 4 seasons left! Take a rest and just enjoy the current Gen while it lasts! Personally, I'd be great with G5 looking like this: I would actually really like it if it was a time skip. Maybe have new characters, introduce new villains with a bunch of new themes while keeping it familiar and throwing in the old characters once in a while. Maybe Twilights kid( if she has one...or rainbow dash) could end up being a spoiled brat like Diamond Tiara was. Of course having all the mane six have kids would be terrible for an idea, maybe pick like two of them and a bunch of random background ponies like Amathist star and some others and make a new mane 5-6 out of them! Instead of Celestia being thier master, the Mares CMC could be their Guide!
Chara 1,565 October 12, 2015 Share October 12, 2015 What do you think G5 will be like? Will it be even half as good as G4?
