Theory Does Princess Celestia even care about the Mane 6?

Now I have heard this specific idea or theory from some other people, and it's really got me thinking, does Princess Celestia really even care about the Mane 6? Now when I say this I don't mean she hates them (unless the whole "Celestia is Evil" theory is true), but that she doesn't really see how great they are.

 

She is always giving the attention to Twilight. Not just making her a princess, but also giving her the real treatment that the other 5 deserve just as much. At the Equestria Games she's sitting up in V.I.P, but not the others! They have to sit on regular old benches. She's always giving the special missions to Twilight and rarely even buys the fact that her friends are pretty much HEROES OF EQUESTRIA. If anything she treats Spike better than them.

 

But the worst part is that before Twilight becomes a princess, Celestia tells her that making friends was part of the test. REALLY?! So the reason they all risked there lives against Nightmare Moon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra was so Twilight could get a big crowd kneeling before her? HOW MANIPULATIVE CAN YOU BE? Actually now I know why the Trollestia meme is so funny.

 

Now I guess you could say that she's planning on making them princesses, but she doesn't act like it. Celestia never says 'you are all powerful great ponies' or 'someday your friendship will finally pay off'. The most she does is give an occasional thank you, but it never compares to how Twilight is living off servants in her castle. 

 

At least that Friendship Tree thing from Season 4 gave them a throne the same as Twilight's, and that's nice I guess. So really the message is that trees are smarter than alicorns.

Maybe.  But it is hard for us to see when she gets so little attention lately that it is easy to forget that she actually was in season 5.

There is not enough time for us to actually see whether or not she cares for the other mane 6 members.

Well, the rest of mane 6 (apart from Twilight) generally have nothing to do with her, so I guess that's why she doesn't appear to care much for them. She only meets them occasionally, and - with Twilight.

 

Twilight is her student, and she appears to care about her students quite a lot (remember in EqG how worried she was about Sunset Shimmer?). And she's also kind of motherly figure to her.

 

I do admit she's a bit unfair towards the others, though. But I get why she didn't care about them as much as she does for Twilight.

She always supports ponies to cheer for Twilight when the others deserve the same praise. I haven't seen Equestria clap for Pinkie stopping the Yaks from declaring war or any of the others.

Princess Celestia did see the power of Twilight when she was just a filly, or rather, the powers she got from RD's Sonic Rainboom. Seeing this, I think she took Twilight as a student, to help her control her powers. Already then I think Celestia knew that Twi would have enough magical power to be able to be an alicorn. 

 

If Celestia could foresee the future of what would happen on the return of Nightmare Moon, it would've been a good plan for Twilight to get help, not only to find the elements, but to wield them as well, considering that they had previously been used by two Alicorns. Perhaps Celestia wouldn't have been strong enough to use the elements alone, not as strong as she had been a thousand years ago, when she banished Nightmare Moon anyway. Maybe the elements actually need two of every pony kind to work properly; 2 unicorns, two pegasi, two earth ponies. Being Alicorn could be seen as being all three combined.

 

I think Celestia knows really well who the other ponies are, since she's been recieving letters about all the ponies every week for the first year that Twilight's been in Ponyville. After that, she got letters from all of the mane six on different occasions. 

 

The reason Twilight got to sit in the V.I.P section at the Equestria games, was because she is a princess, even if she wanted to sit with her friends, the duty wouldn't quite allow it, probably. 

 

Twilight was also probably told to make friends because they all had skills and powers that she lacked/ still lacks. That's why she's set in Ponyville to study friendship, so she can grow and be the Alicorn Princess she's meant to be. Maybe Twilight is a decendant to Star Swirl himself, and the reason she needs the other ponies, was because neither Star Swirl, Luna or Celestia had any friends to help them be as powerful as they could be, since "From all of us together, together we're friends. With the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end!" This could be seen as a sign that they are already Princesses, not just Alicorn princesses. that is why different ponies can be sent to different locations by the map. 

 

But what if the reason Celestia don't show anything towards the other ponies is because she can't, since she doesn't know how to act amongst friends, just subjects. But by studying Twilight study friendship, Celestia too is learning.

I don't even think Celestia and Twilight had a lot of personal moments even before Twilight's ascension, so there wouldn't be much of a reason to show what kind of a relationship Celestia has with the rest of the Mane 6.

Luna has been treated fine, having a full arc with the CMC, a full mid season finale episode where she took the center stage, and at this point, more appearances than her sister... Celestia has proven time and time again how much she cares for her subjects.

Sunbutt is a "hands off" approack pony. She and Luna personally had to go to the Tree of harmony to get the elements to defeat Discrd. The tree has Sunbutt, Luna, and Twilight's cutie mark on it, so no doubt she only sees Teilight- the one with the same cutie mark as the tree- the only force that has more authority than her, to designate defenses and questst to ensure the potection of Equestria- the nation Sunbutt rules- as important. She's too distant with others, and puts sole priority on managing her nation's defenses, according to the Tree's decision. Which is why Twi is put on a pedestal by her, and not the other mane 5.

 

Note Luna has a much more personal approach with other ponies, not limiting herself to just one inividual, as Sunbutt does.

I've been saying this ever since I started watching the cartoon and if all goes well, I'll keep saying it well after it's over: the problem is with the writers, not the character.

 

The truth is that Celestia is the kind of character that tends to get in the way of the plot, so she must be removed from it one way or another since we're yet to see her actually get a part to be active in a story, she's handled like that or outright ignored.

 

Now, you say that she treats Twilight differently. I'm not sure... Twilight interacts more with Cadance than with Celestia ever since Cadance appeared. Specially because of that map thingy that I hate. And then, I don't think it's Celestia's job organize seating in an event at Crystal Empire. If anything, this would be Cadance's fault.

 

Then you're simplifying too much Celesfia's decisions. Celestia couldn't deal with Nightmare Moon and she needed the Elements to solve this problem. To be fair, we can't even say that Celestia planned any of what happened in the first episodes, but if she did, it's excusable. Discord is the same and Queen Chrysalis... If Celestia is guilty of anything in this case is of not realizing that Cadance was fake.

 

In the case of King Sombra... Yeah. That was stupid. I can't see any reason Luna and Celestia couldn't have dealt with him like they did in the past, as part of the team. But it's because the owners of the cartoon say that Twilight has to win day. Best way of getting the big white problem out of the plot is say "oh... It's a test. LOL so Tia can't really get involved.”.

 

I bet my ass people wouldn't be accusing Celestia of all the bad things the fandom have to say about her if the damn writers let her take part in solving the problems presented by the episodes every now and then. Like Luna and Cadance get to.

The mane six were invited to the Grand Galloping Gala which seemed to be only a place where high society ponies went and none of their enthusiasm went to living the high life it was more on what they were interested in about like Fluttershy meeting all the critters or Applejack selling her wares. The only pony that really cared about special treatment was Rarity and she does seem to get special treatment like how she got that special loft on Sweet and Elite (or was that the name of the song I don't remember). Only when the mane six ask for favors it seems Celestia is willing to give it. 

 

I also think it's based on customs and politics. Most likely the high society ponies have a lineage of their own they feel to keep and not allow random peasants to become part of it so letting them into it by Celestia may arise lots of enmity and disapproval. Also peasant ponies may have a lot of jealousy for this no doubt causing an imbalance in the infrastructure of Equestria.

That's entirely true. I think it would be cool for the movie to be about Celestia revealing she was evil and turns Twilight into Midnight Sparkle, so the Mane 5, Spike, and Starlight Glimmer must build a up rebellion against Canterlot to stop her.
