Windows 8.1 is enough for me but I haven't tried Windows 10 yet. And from what my cousin tells me about it, I don't think I will be. But I REALLY hate when a pop up for it comes up whenever I load up my computer...

I hate how frequently it is trying to force itself upon my computer.

I don't want to upgrade to windows 10 and I don't want to constantly deal with trying to tell me what to do with my computer.

I am sick and tired of seeing it.

(edited)

I have a dual-boot PC between Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04.

I made the upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1, and I say, I kinda like it more than 8.1. Growing up with Windows, I certainly like the interface better, and DX12 is only compatible with it. But these privacy concerns... I use it mainly for gaming and some specific software, nowadays, and Ubuntu for everything else, and I've gotten used to the Unity desktop, so I'm fine with standard Ubuntu. I had to disable quick boot in Windows just so that I can boot into Ubuntu, which is a pain, because I prefer the quick boot turned on to boot Windows as quickly as I've been used to on Linux. I don't want to go back to Windows 7 or any previous version of Windows because I had to wait for my computer to become usable even after logging in, especially if I have antivirus software on it. Honestly, I'd rather use Windows 8.1 than 7.

I still have refused to upgrade to Windows 10. After consulting with someone from Geek Squad when they came over to fix my computer, they informed me my computer didn't need the upgrade. The new Windows would also make my games not work well so that's another reason I stay away.

  • 5 years later...

I really liked it when I first upgraded, but I feel like after the “new Windows version” hype wore off I just sort of feel like it’s a mixed bag overall. It’s… fine for everyday use and gaming and whatnot, but it doesn’t really feel as stable as Windows 7 or even 8.1 did. Every so often I find myself running into weird problems with it (I remember having issues with it turning Fast Startup back on after updates, which ended up crashing my computer at least once every few days, plus the ‘Explorer’ freezing for no real reason at one point) and after 5 years or so it feels pretty unpolished and bloated overall.

I really dislike how hard it is to resize resizable windows in Windows 10, as the border is like 1 pixel wide, on huge screens! That's only one of the things that make me stay with Windows 7.

I love it. Been using Windows 10 on my current laptop for over 3 years now. I have had no problems with it. ALso got it on my gaming pc.

How do you go about using Windows 7 since it is no longer supported?
