How about an MLP spin off?

I know that I'm more than a seasons worth of episodes late at this point, but do you remember this scene from Slice of Life?

 

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd say the idea of a secret society devoted to hunting down monsters is really bucking intriguing.  Unfortunately however, all we've actually gotten so far from official sources to expand on this idea is this disappointingly short children book (there's also a hoofful of fanfics but those don't count) 

 

However, I have the craziest idea that you would not beLIEVE.  What if they took this concept and turned it into it's own spin off show?  It could differentiate itself from MLP proper by being more action oriented.  It would be a good excuse to give some much needed character development to some familiar faces without distracting from the Mane Six (plus Starlight Glimmer I guess) as well as introducing some new ponies at the same time.  And finally, It would just be one bucking hell of a ride as we would get to see our favorite background ponies going on new, crazy adventures every single week.

 

Plus, Lyra is my favorite character.  Just thought I'd shout that out.

 

 

Who else would be totally stoked to see this happen?

Hi, as this topic is not about the show but about wishing for a spinoff, I have decided to move it to Sugarcube Corner.

Agreed. Actually, EQG has the potential to be what you're talking about, and it would make the most sense to use it as a means to make that happen. In fact, the spinoff media that does exist for the EQG series outside of the movies and straight up novelizations is quite high schooly, and slice of lifey. A comic series would probably play out a lot like Archie Comics, but I think it could work as a TV show too, like we thought we were getting when someone mistranslated a French promo for Rainbow Rocks. I'm not sure if it would be my cup of tea, but as long as they stop falling back on sleepovers as a plot point, I'd probably be at least interested in giving it a chance. But, yeah, the CMCs do have priority, and that would probably be more interesting. Or a Celestia and Luna spinoff, which could be what the apparent Guardians of Harmony series is about.

I think it's more prudent for a spin off to be mane once they either suspend or wrap-up FiM, so they don't have to split focus on either. I've been keen on an EG spinoff for a while, but FiM has more potential for more interesting spinoffs like Agents of SMILE, or one about the princesses, or just new characters or something

I could see a CMC spinoff working out. Or possibly a School of Friendship spinoff - that would have been a great way to thoroughly explore the school and the Student Six without taking too much screen time away from the pre-existing cast.

Well, I'm pretty sure that Pony Life is pretty much a spin-off show about MLP so there's that, and then I also believe that the Equestria Girls series is considered a spin-off from the main show too. I think that a spin-off show about the Wonderbolts would have been cool, I've always been a fan of them but I felt that they were sort of underused in the main show, so I think that a spin-off show with them in it would have been super fun! 

Imagine all the cool aerial adventures they could have gone on! And Rainbow Dash could have been in the show to act a bridge between the spin-off and the main show, helping to keep them within the same timeline and all I think

Or how about just a canon version of Two Best Sisters Play?  Luna and Tia Mondays.  They just play games on the couch every week.  That'd be great.  Or how about Good Magical Morning with the Sisters?  I basically just love the idea of the Sisters having a youtube channel.  I mean, it wouldn't be FIM universe canon, but, y'know, just get the real team and Tabitha and Nicole to make a legit Sisters youtube channel.  That would be so great.  They'd be bigger than PewDiePie.
