Songs that transmit my feelings and experiences, it doesn't matter whether it's an spoken message, or purely instrumental.

As long as it delivers an echo to my inner voice.

I'm a huge fan of the ability and talent to completely mash stuff up together, artists never sticking to one conformed genre and experimenting with sounds.  And especially them doing what they want.  And, of course, whatever happens to strike me in a certain moment.

Good orchestration. Some music can be rendered great or just okay based on how the instrumentation is used. I also prefer it when singers let a song breathe, meaning they shouldn't overstyle it to the point the song is unrecognizable. They should honor the melody and let the music flow.

Typically I'm not really one for vocals, though I can tolerate them.
Having an impactful/catchy melody is of course necessary, but if that were the extent of my criteria I'd like half the songs that have ever been made.
I like songs that can reciprocate a certain mood that I'm looking for, which is made more difficult without vocals. More specifically, songs that accompany something else, like a scene or a story. A song on its own simply doesn't have the means to be great, in my opinion,
