But seriously, it is just a website to me. I pretty much only use it when trying to track down some credits information. I don't bother with it much more than that. I never notice any of the trolls on the site.

Lol could you give me a reason for this? Trolls exist on every website, there are just more of them on imdb than on sites like rottentomatoes and metacritic because they have more users.

 

I've used it since 2006/2007 ish and I'm very happy with it. The features are awesome and it always has the movies I watch in its database, even if it's some weird B shit from Portugal. I assume that you dislike it because of its members but as I said above, that's not a reason to blame the site. The ratings usually follow the "what's popular + what's entertaining" rating while rottentomatoes' ratings are slightly more like "what's well made + what's cool to like". I don't know if those explanations made any sense but that's basically it. Shitty films can get decent ratings on imdb if they are entertaining and boring films that very few people actually like in reality can top tomatolists if they are well made. That's why I like to check many places for ratings if I'm thinking about going to the theatre but as for regular use I just stick to imdb.

During the time I've been on imdb I have (as I can remember) never seen anyone acting racist nor homophobic. Seems more like you're overexaggerating after coming across one or two bad apples. And again, this is just my opinion but it's not fair to talk bad about their service because the users are disrespectful. The biggest reason why people even use imdb is to rate and get information about movies. Users aside, is it still a disgusting website to you?
