Would you still watch FIM if native humans were introduced?

Yes, native. As in, humans living in some undiscovered city or country apart from Equestria. They would have absolutely zero ties to the humans from Equestria Girls, meaning they'd have normal skin colors and not the "coat colors" shared with any ponies. Their civilization wouldn't need to have the most advanced technology to date, but just enough to help them make ends meet in a growing economy (let's say they're having their own mid-Industrial Revolution phase that parallels the one we had in the 19th century).

To make it more realistic, they could also have their own "real" horses that look and behave like ours.

Would you be okay with this happening with G4, considering that humans were a part of G1?

I don't know what the purpose would be. That would be above and beyond the scope of MLP and it would be absolutely ridiculous.

That being said, millions* of RP'ers would rejoice as humans in Equestria rp's could now more easily fit into canon.

I don't think I would, I mean, we already have Equestria Girls. Isn't that enough humans for this franchise? With that said, I still would love to see Sci-Twi and Twilight Sparkle interact with each other. I'm sure much hilarity would ensue.

It'd be for world building, obviously. And as far as the show's target audience is concerned, it's not such a huge stretch. I think girls would like to see a human character they could relate to interacting with the Mane Six. That's what they had Megan for in G1. And since we now have grown men that are into this franchise, a brony-type of human would be kind of awesome to see, not to mention an anti-brony for a human villain.

I suppose? I don't care so much about non-ponies in this show, and as long as this isn't some significant part of the series, I would be fine. If the show went all lore-and-worldbuilding heavy, though, I worry that I'd get really bored, and then I might stop.

Eh... you lost me at "they have horses like we do in real life." That sounds exceedingly hard to write in any interesting way whatsoever... Besides the novelty of the idea to some viewers, it would grow stale and boring quickly and open up waaaay too many plot holes and questions, like... how do sentient ponies and regular horses... coexist... Ow, my head....

The same way we coexist with chimps and gorillas? Or how Winona can coexist with the diamond dogs?

It wouldn't be the first time MLP had plain, non-sentient horses (again, there was one in G1).

I would be OK with it if it was not something that became central to the show. I mean I could handle an episode of it I suppose if it was written well and brought it up as some distant part of the world, but if suddenly humans started joining the cast it would suddenly become like some sort of awful fanfic come to life I feel and I would probably quit.

It really wouldn't matter much to me, it would just be very awkward now that Equestria Girls was introduced. Admittedly I would find it more interesting if the humans just lived like we do.

If they cropped up in one episode as a throwaway race I could probably just hate that one episode and never watch it again.  But as long as it went back to normal to following week I'd continue watching.  If it was a recurring thing then it would pretty much destroy the fantastical element of the cartoon for me.

I can't imagine humans fitting well into the Equestrian universe, I can just about stomach EQG, but that's as close as I'd want to get to ponies and humans appearing together.

I don’t think introducing native humans to MLP world would be a good idea. But if they were something like the Yahoos from Gulliver's Travels and appeared for one or two well-written episodes, I’d be OK with that.

If they did that I'd consider it the definitive jumping the shark moment. Humans have no place in this gen beyond EQG and attempting to introduce them will only ruin the show because part of its charm for me is that this is a completely fantastical world with no obvious ties to ours. I'm fine with the theory that Equestria is Earth in the far future, but I don't want actual humans to be a part of the world.

I'd still watch it, though having humans around would just feel out-of-place, even if they appear only once in a while. I'd much rather if the FiM universe is inhabited solely by animals and mythological creatures (humanoid ones included), just no actual humans. :P

  • 1 year later...

I would enjoy it as long as there's a logical explanation of how they ended up there I would also prefer a unique spin on it for example a small group of 400 humans displaced in an abandoned settlement etc.

Yes, I'm already into seven and a half seasons, that means I will not stop watching until FiM ends. But I would most likely dislike the introduction of humans to Equestria, it just feels wrong.

Equestria Girls works for me because they live in a parallel universe of some sorts.
