cider float 2,539 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 They're both conceded and think others think they're awesome. I just noticed this when they're always self promoting themselves.
BastementSparkle 20,335 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 Both also do this to cover up their real insecurities about themselves. Zephyr is terrified of failure and so is RD, she also hates being alone. 2 Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to? bluseymoe 258 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 (edited) Well, in RD's case a lot of ponies really do seem to think she's pretty awesome most of the time. Also her ego is somewhat justified. Unlike ZB. Edited December 8, 2016 by bluseymoe

Silver Letter 1,832 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 I think it's "conceited". And I would disagree. To have conceit is to have an imagined or inflated sense of importance in one's head that doesn't really exist. Dash likes to boast but it is mostly backed by her natural talents. She had to work hard to get into the bolts so she wasn't as good as she said but she was still good. Conceit is owned by those who say they are great but aren't like Trixie or Zephyr. The latter is a couch surfing loser who made nothing out of his life. His ego is not backed by anything of substance, making the comparison invalid. At the end of his episode, he appeared to succeed at the schooling but the Zephyr we know will use that as the end-all-be-all of his success, nothing more than a certification of his own superiority. A Zephyr that grows will use it to reach success and to become greater. I only wonder what we would get if he were to return in the show. To compare it to Dash, it would be as if she stopped trying to succeed after graduating from the academy. Zephyr has a lot to do before he begins to reach a level of success comparable with Rainbow Dash. 2 Silver Letter!!! Doesn't matter what accomplishments they've done conceited is conceited. Especially when one acts conceited around people that don't care about what her accomplishments are as they are unrelated to the people's interests. It's defined as "an excessively favorable opinion of one's own ability, importance, wit, etc. " Being that it's about opinion, and other definitions below relate to imagination, there is a difference between conceit and mere ego. Rainbow Dash has a strong ego but I don't think she has conceit since she has been rather successful even from a young age. Zephyr, not so much. At least, that's my interpretation. Perhaps I'm looking at it the wrong way but that's how I see the term. Silver Letter!!! Kyoshi Frost Wolf 42,202 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 Dashie may have some arrogance to her at times, but at least she has proven what she can actually do. Zephyr was simply an asshole and by the end of the episode, all I saw was the same exact asshole that could now do hair. The only thing I could see them having in common is that they are both Pegasi and the common ground ends there. 4 Redeem me into childhood. Show me myself without a shell. GrimGrimoire 4,973 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 Wow, it's like they are twins. With Rarity they can be triplets! But in all seriousness... I am sure if you look long enough at any pair you can find some sort of common link. They share egotistical issues, but nothing else pretty much. ~No profound statement needed~
cmarston1 5,964 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 Let's be honest here, even if you are in the minority of people who like Zephyr, the majority that hate him, or someone like me who is somewhere in between, it is pretty clear that he and Rainbow Dash are not going to become a couple. GrimGrimoire 4,973 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 it is pretty clear that he and Rainbow Dash are not going to become a couple. And if somehow they did, the rage that would erupt from the fandom would would make all of the Starlight, Newbie Dash, MMDW and whatever other angers are floating around out there seem like minor annoyances in comparison. I would not be surprised if the resulting anger and hate did not take on physical mass somehow. 1 ~No profound statement needed~
Thrond 3,271 December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 Zephyr seemed to mostly believe in his own bluster because of how he didn't have to face too much hardship, while Dash at times comes across like she's trying to convince herself, as if her insecurity will go away and nobody will think badly of her if she just makes herself sound great. And from what I find in terms of dictionary terms. "excessive pride in oneself" is what conceit means. And seriously still hanging onto one statement about that, it doesn't matter they're both conceited. Rainbow Dash may have an ego but she is also conceited. Silver Letter 1,832 December 10, 2016 Share December 10, 2016 Ego is still not a positive word nor a virtue it would fall under the same vice as conceit. That's true but I am afraid that I must disagree that conceit is not more than mere ego. I don't think Dash and Zephyr are the same. From how they approach life, they would appear very different. 1 Silver Letter!!! Widdershins 9,964 December 10, 2016 Share December 10, 2016 Dashie may have some arrogance to her at times, but at least she has proven what she can actually do. Zephyr was simply an asshole and by the end of the episode, all I saw was the same exact asshole that could now do hair. The only thing I could see them having in common is that they are both Pegasi and the common ground ends there. Huh, funnily enough, I'm of the inverse opinion! Zephyr was afraid. Sure, he'd swat aside & break his father's collection of... water...vapor? But those are his parents, they've had a lifetime to bop him on the snoot & tell him no, so clearly, to him, its something they don't stop him from doing, so what's the problem? He pushes himself on others, but that clearly comes from a direction of self-mistrust. He knows enough to keep his trap shut when meeting new ponies. After his parents shooed him out the door he shacked up with his sister, but only because she let him & gave him another route he could take to avoid having to depend on himself. After his sister got fed up with him, what did he do? He didn't just look around for the next pony to mooch off of, no, he prefers to stick with what he knows works, who he can mooch off of. And he ran out of peo- ponies he could work with. But he still didn't want to have to confront his insecurities, so what did he do? He went out into the EVERFREE, and tried to live in a hollow and cover himself up with a blanket of leaves! Had his sister not taken pity on him when she did, he would have likely gotten eaten! Sufficed to say, it does seem like without somepony else around to lean on, and depending on himself out of the question, he just went certifiably insane. By the end of the episode, he was convinced that he could care enough to try. That in spite of the fear of having to depend on himself, he could still go out there and at least try. Is he still a cocky, annoying dillweed? Yeah, I ain't debating that! Is he going to keep up with this salon business like he said and actually change? Heh, probably not considering the way he is. But he knows to try now. His episode is probably what I consider the episode most clearly directed towards an older audience. Sp-specifically one of, oh, I dunno, Young adult males that have given up on life and spend all their time shut-in and obsessing over a world they are comfortable in, as opposed to a real one that gives them crippling amounts of anxiety. So maybe I might have connected with him. You all seem to bring up the point that RD is warranted in her confidence by her abilities. But I feel its how you express that confidence is that makes all the difference. She spies on her own fanclub, one that's led by a filly she hangs out with that she routinely feeds exaggerated tales to. Haven't there been episodes where we've seen her put other ponies in danger by stopping first to consider what's in it for her? Mysterious Mare-do-well? Or is that a sore spot I oughtn't bring up for the Rainbow Fans? When any pony doubts or challenges her she quite literally gets in their face about it. She will completely disregard the concerns for others, goad other, smaller critters into risking their lives with her venture and only when she's trapped miles down a canyon, pinned under a boulder, surrounded by giant carnivorous eels that can swallow a pony whole does she stop to think that maaybe she didn't think things through. She's brash, rash, abrasive, combative, antagonistic, loud, proud, pushy, ignorant, spiky, and an all-around meatloaf! And yes, that's also why I love her!! And yes! I ship Zephyr & RD! Well, behind Rarity...and maybe..... 1 Beatings & Salivations Everybeing! Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread! Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew! sweetolebob18 728 December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Well, Dash was a LOT more arrogant the 1st season or 2. Now that she has some solid accomplishments, she is less inclined to brag. Besides, as the late, great "Dizzy" Dean said "It's not boasting if you can really do it" I'd say the biggest difference between the 2 is that Dash is better at backing up her boasts.
