ManaMinori 4,146 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 reboots are trending hard right now. Sailor Moon did it, Pokemon did it, with Pokemon Generations, Yugioh did it, with Dark Side of Dimensions, Digimon did it, so what about My Little Pony and their gen 1? could such a reboot attract adults who grew up with the original series? Millennials who want a fresh take on the older generation? Should Hasbro jump on the reboot bandwagon? 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Gestum 2,493 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 (edited) No. I can't imagine that there's a big audience for that kind of show. Especially when FiM exists. Edited January 13, 2017 by Gestum
Luminance 2,187 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 I can see it as a potential show, done in the animation and writing style of FiM but with it's own separated story arc and characters.
trademark2 485 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 (edited) I think they will definitely reboot the series, since they already did it 4 times already. Idk about gen 1 though, why gen 1 over the other gens? I would like to see the next show be more mainstream instead of going for strictly Y-7. There is an audience for it. I know i'm going to get some people riled up and they are going to yell at me "IT HAS TO BE CHILDREN". But there's no reason it does really. I hope FIM doesn't end for a long time, however. Maybe 10 more seasons at least! Edited January 13, 2017 by trademark2 Feel free to message or add me everypony!

Maybe 10 more seasons at least! not the series, as a continuous thing (like a g5 reboot). Specifically, as I said, g1. Because nostalgia. They know they can attract older audiences, as seen with g4. Why not reach out to the very first fans of mlp, and reboot gen 1 in a modern style and storytelling? trademark2 485 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 (edited) I don't know much about gen 1, to be honest. Was it a gripping tale? But then again, if nobody knows much about it, it would be a good candidate for a reboot. But still, was it that popular? PinkiePie97 913 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 (edited) I don't see any need for it since FiM is still doing so well. LeafFerret 3,382 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 I don't see why the show needs to have a reboot, fortunately this show isn't named by one of the characters so they can get away with using a different protagonist while keeping the same theme. 2 Sig by Kyoshi. Zachary 5,522 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 Nope, We don't need a reboot as FiM is Still doing Well. 1 Thanks Kyoshi for the Signature
cmarston1 5,960 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 I feel as if it is time for FIM to end and a new generation to start eventually.
GrimGrimoire 4,973 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 They did do an MLP reboot. It is currently airing now about to get its seventh season. I mean I get what you are asking about a reboot with everything that makes generation 1 well... generation 1.. but no. They won't do it. If they do anymore reboots it will be just like they have done with every property they have ever owned... similar to what came before and very familiar but with a new spin on everything. The only reason FIM does not share as many of the same names as G1, was due to trademark/copyright issues. Fans have been wanting a Transformers G1 reboot with just a fresh coat of paint for how long now? And Hasbro has pretty much ignored those pleas and just continued doing different types of reboots. (Granted, many have been awesome.... but still not what has been asked for). I see MLP in the same regards, Hasbro seems perfectly happy to leave the past in the past and just keep moving forward by introducing old ideas with new looks, situations and characters. I know some companies are doing it (or trying to), but Hasbro is not one of them. (as of yet). I don't see that changing. 1 ~No profound statement needed~
BlueStreak98 828 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 The G1 My Little Pony show was never nearly as big as FiM has been. Even if they did a reboot I doubt it would attract nearly as much attention as G4 has, or even a show like Transformers. Now, I could easily see them rebooting G4 twenty to thirty years in the future to get us all addicted again. 1 "I still believe that peace and plenty and happiness can be worked out some way. leonbrony17 1,216 January 14, 2017 Share January 14, 2017 A reboot would gain more losses than gains. G4 is and will always be the best and most influencing thing they've ever made.
GrimGrimoire 4,973 January 14, 2017 Share January 14, 2017 Well they could make a g5 thats more influential, but leonbrony is right. Are you gonna say transformers is more influential? I don't think you read what he wrote. Shall we repeat? G4 is and will always be the best and most influencing thing they've ever made. That of a whole lot of predictions (opinions) and very little fact. And by little I mean not at all. Are you seriously saying (agreeing with) nothing in cartoon existence has ever been better and nothing will ever come about that will ever be better? Also are you implying that nothing in cartoon history has ever been more influential and nothing will ever come about that will be more influential? Please explain to me how any of that is "right" and not just a loyal fan made opinion? 1 ~No profound statement needed~
SBaby 660 January 23, 2017 Share January 23, 2017 I don't know if I'd necessarily say a 'reboot'. But I wouldn't mind seeing them try something new with the show, like taking it in a different direction for a Season, just to test the water. 1 A Winner Is You!!! Prospekt 11,027 January 23, 2017 Share January 23, 2017 No. After all, FiM is enough of a reboot for me, fixing the problems of the previous generations while still borrowing elements from them. 1 Signature by Kyoshi

chaosprincess 1,067 January 23, 2017 Share January 23, 2017 (edited) I feel they could generation 1 was based more around movies then episodes, but it brings back memories for a lot of people and there is still a large amount of people that love the older generations of my little pony my favorite being Rescue from Midnight Castle and Hasbro still loves Generation 1 as well, but my little pony did not start with generation 1 it started with my pretty pony which of course never had a movie or show, but its how my little pony came to be from a simple toy line now I like the animation for generation 1 I love hand drawn animation more work goes into it and I like the designs of the ponies plus Spike was adorable in Rescue from Midnight Castle, but they had a lot of awesome villains in generation 1 and so many memorable characters now I'm not to sure on how generation 3 would be since a lot of people preferred the figures over the show which I am one of them I prefer to collect generation 3 figures then watch the show, but I do love Minty's Christmas that was a memorable movie so generation 1 may not be perfect, but its so memorable and there is still a lot of fans for generation 1 like I said even if the movies/shows were not always the greatest, but it still looked good with what they had Hasbro did not have all these fancy computer graphics and things like that back then they had to hand draw everything so its something that can be appreciated like the older Disney movies that were hand drawn or clay animation movies, but every generation of mlp brings something different and the style always changed so its nice seeing the different styles throughout the years of mlp well seems I typed a lot *looks it over* yup I suppose I should end it here. Justin_Case001 4,908 January 23, 2017 Share January 23, 2017 Huh. I was under the impression that FIM kinda is a G1 reboot already. For instance, I believe that FIM Part 1 and Part 2 share a lot of similarities with....what was it called? Rescue at Castle Midnight? But I could be wrong....y'know, about it being a reboot of G1, that is. I don't know a lot about G1. But I believe Faust borrowed a lot more from G1 than any other pony generation when creating FIM. The other generations were a flop, but G1 was actually a very decent show, as I understand it, so Faust wanted to bring back the fantasy/adventure elements of it, while putting a modern spin on it. But to answer your question, no, I don't believe that a straight up, faithful reboot of the entire G1 series would be a very good idea at this time, nor do I see it in the cards. I would certainly be in favor of FIM ending after the movie, however, and a completely new pony gen launching. What I'd like to see is another pony show with the same art style, taking place in the same universe, but focusing on a new cast in some other part of the world, possibly at some other point in time. You know, like not even Equestria. And they could have some passing mentions of Equestria, and maybe even a cameo by Twilight or something, like when Q brought Commander Riker to Voyager in Death Wish. Oh, that's what they should do! They should have Discord be in G5, like how Q is on TNG and Voyager.
