Whiteshade 1,426 May 12, 2012 Share May 12, 2012 (edited) My morning was pretty boring, so I posed a philosophical question to myself to pass some time. I'm interested in what you guys might have to say on this as well. The Question: What, in your opinion, is sentience? A followup: What role does intelligence play in sentience? You don't have to be too serious about it, but don't post stupid responses like "i r smart, i be sentement" either I'll post my own answer later since I have to go in 5 minutes and won't be back for 4 more hours Edited May 12, 2012 by Whiteshade Warning: Signature may cause seizures, owner will sue you if you complain Nothing happens, yet everything changes. willinilly 134 May 12, 2012 Share May 12, 2012 I believe that sentience is being self aware I guess and one doesn't need a ton of intelligence to be self aware. But I have no idea in actuality so...

Doctor Whooves™ 332 May 12, 2012 Share May 12, 2012 If you can question your actions, you are sentient. Simple as that.
Ravager 43 May 13, 2012 Share May 13, 2012 In my opinion sentience would be us being aware of ourselves as individuals while also realizing that others are also like this. without intelligence you can not be sentient, a being can not be aware of itself and other without a certain level of intelligence, take ants for example, they are only there for one thing, to work as a whole, they do not engage in personal endeavors they only exist to serve the queen, and react only based on pheromones. They lack the intelligence to be able to be considered sentient in my opinion. While dolphins, even though they work in a pod, and have an "Alpha" of the pod, they are aware of what is going on around them and the changes to their environments, they are not just out to be, they are out to live, love and have fun. Though my description does not really co inside with the actual definition of Sentience, what i say is my take on the word and how i perceive it. Chill Mists (Chilly) 801 May 13, 2012 Share May 13, 2012 Being self aware I guess... Brushing your hair is for people who care and someone who cares is not I, I'll jump off a bridge and then fill up your fridge, and best pony is Fluttershy. Her face is still blushing and she is still eating the pasta. "on the internet;everyone are strong"- Guy on Youtube.
