With Starlight's tendency to f*ck things, they will most likely show her going forward and then backpeddle to keep her in the main spotlight for season 7. Then the finale *might* have her role end on that note. I personally wouldn't mind her diminishing into obscurity after the premiere. From the looks of the trailer they are bring back the time travel garbage. So because of Starlight we have may have this happen twice and time travel is such a boring and pointless plot device in my opinion.

It's pretty much confirmed at this point that we will be getting a time skip to when Flurry Heart is capable (around filly age), right? If that happens she could overpower Starlight like a mofo. Starlight will need to achieve Alicorn status aswell as her own Ascended Rainbow Power form in order to maintain relevancy as far as I am concerned

 

I suspect that the grand finale battle against Chrysalis will be absolutely insane; like Twilight vs Tirek x 10! \(^o^)/

Now that the episode came out this thread looks funny in hindsight. The previews look very different in context, now that we know it was Discord who planted the idea in Twilight's head, and this was from the end of the episode.

Seeing as though we're not really gonna get much Starlight as we all thought she would (her second major role isn't happening until at least episode 9 or later), it's probable Starlight will play another role in the Season 7 finale -- but this time, WITH the Mane Six.

There's a drama part of me that wants to see some big shot villain(Ether Chrysalis or Tirek) blow up "Our Town" and leave the villagers there homeless, forcing Starlight to go after said villain(Most likely it's gonna be Chrysalis, but I won't be surprised if Tirek pulls that stunt off)

I think it is just going to be learning about friendship. She is familiar with it right now, but she needs to learn control her emotions.

As of right now I have a feeling that by the end of the season, Starlight is going to move away from Ponyville, as she has already "graduated" as Twilight's student, I think, so the next thing for her to do, would be move away from Twilight.

Hopefully to the Crystal Empire, where she can hang out with Sunburst.
