gaming Aliens, Zombies, Robots... whats next?

In the early to mid 2000s, it seemed as though every game coming out had aliens as a central focus. Then around the turn of the decade, zombies became the hot new craze amongst game devs. Now, it seems like we are in the era of robots.... What will come next? Your guess is as good as mine :o

Why not Religious Time-Travelling Ninja Zombie Priate Robot Wizards from Space?

^LOL.

On a more serious note tho, Ninjas and Pirates might have potential to become the next gaming craze... (both seem awfully boring to me tho Q.Q )

It most obviously will be lumberjacks. The cries by gamers everywhere to release their inner Paul Bunyun has not gone unheard.

They already have the theme music for a lumberjack game...

Yeah maybe, but not sure it works as well as Cash would.

Avoiding the song by Jackyl since I detest it.

Carnivorous plushies, the ultimate nightmare. They gave you love when you were little, they ended up in a landfill when you grew older, and now they've gone feral and are out for revenge!  :o_o:

Rated R (for Ridiculous)

Were that to happen.... 99% of this forum would be doomed. Devoured by a Fluttershy plush... what an ironic fate.

Well the time travelling has been tried a few times in a couple of different titles. But the mutant idea sounds like it could fun. sorta along the way of Duex EX without the Cyberization of body parts but instead with the enhancement of unique powers on a genetic level. or a GTA version of Sims lol that sounds amazing to me.

WWI maybe?  We also had a craze for WWII a few years ago so maybe WWI games will be a thing for some time at least.

Well Battlefield 1 was made so that certainly might be a new venture for some game companies. It would be very interesting. lol A whole new take on first person shooters. What about Civil War? lol

Civil war (American I presume) would not really work unless they really make it alt history/steam punk or something like that.  The only automatic weapon was the Gatling gun but that was more like an artillery piece in how it could be used.  They also had the Henry rifle which was repeating but 99% of guns back then were muzzle loaded meaning they were quite inaccurate at range and could get off little more then about 5 RPM.  I think somebody was making an American civil war game but it was in EA on Steam last time I checked.  There is also mount and blade Napoleonic which has muzzle loading guns but I'm not sure how successful that was.  Russian Civil war or Finnish Civil war might be more suitable but not much of a market in English speaking countries for that sort of thing.

There is actually a game coming out sometime that's in alpha called "War of Rights". It is made to be as realistic as possible with firing in formation and such. Of course the issue with this era is what Corgis said about most firearms being muzzle loaders. These would make for boring and slow game play, but it does have potential. Weapons such as the Henry and Spencer are lever action and could be interesting and there are many experimental and obscure weapons, such as the Lemat, with was a shotgun and a revolver in one. Of course, if the game used all sorts of these weapons, history would be thrown out the window, just as BF1 did. The vast majority of soldiers in WWI used a bolt action, similar to muzzle loaders in the Civil War, but BF1 used all sorts of rare weapons to make game play interesting and it worked. Because of this, the Civil War is something that may actually become a thing sometime, since it hasn't been covered much and has a unique arsenal of weapons.

I think you can make a lot of relevant political messages with mutants in the same respect that X-Men has for years, and other animations, and even some games. I think that you can make an alternative story with good and bad on both respective sides, with heavy human rights undertones...

@@Corgis and @@Colt 45 you guys are right. A friend of mine were discussing about how interesting Call of Duty would be if it were like the American Civil Wars. There would be no quick scoping or camping lol because of the firing line and slower loading and inaccurate firing. Just thought that I would throw those out there for humor. I honestly wouldn't mind a company making a game that was like Revolution meets Fallout 4 and GTA5.
