Why Twilight Sparkle ISN'T a Marysue character

For the last time, Twilight is NOT A FREAKING MARY-SUE!

Let me explain in detail if you are one of those bronies that hate her because you think she is one. Before I do however, if you don't know what a marysue even is here is a link to the definition: Mary sue

You get the idea? Mary-sue's are "perfect" characters with no reasons to be what they are. They are flawless and usually just puppets of the creators fantasies! Twilight has many reasons as to who she is and why she does certain things and is definitely NOT Lauren Faust's self-insert character. Unlike a mary-sue, Twilight grew as a pony and changed throughout the show. She still has things learn, but she still improved over time. Mary-sues DON'T change. They stay "perfect" no matter how much the creator wants you to believe they changed. Not only does Twilight change, she has reasons to be the way she is in the first place! The very beginning of the show even shows that clearly. Right away, you learn that Twilight is a bit anti-social, an over-worker and much more. With Mary-sues, the creator is very quick to show their nonsensical perfections or their meaningless edgy backstories. None of which happens with Twilight. BTW being a princess doesn't always equal to a mary-sue trait. Usually princess mary-sues are ALREADY royal or become royal through nonsensical reasons. Twilight didn't even know she was going to be one! Plus, there were no hints she was going to be one in the show. She EARNED herself to be a princess. Royal status wasn't given to her without purpose like mary-sues are.

Ok, there a few more things I could say but I think I made this long enough. If you still think Twilight is a mary-sue, thats ok. Just don't shove it down people's throats like some people do.

Someone got triggered it sounds like. You might want to ignore what peole that dislike the character say. It makes life a lot easier.

I don't think anyone thinks she is a Mary Sue anymore though unless they are just trying to get a rise out of others. We have had 7 seasons to see how fallible (and still awesome) she is.

Don't use the word "triggered" please. Triggered means something different. I do agree though that most bronies don't view her as a mary-sue anymore. However I still get some people telling me is, its rare though.

One view of episodes like No Second Prances and I think it's pretty obvious that the Twilight Sparkle from Season 4 to the present still has plenty to learn. She has accomplished quite a lot but saying she's portrayed as flawless is so misguided. Just look at Celestia and Luna in A Royal Problem; "alicorn" is not synonymous with "perfect." Each princess (except for maybe Cadance) is portrayed as having flaws here and there that are rooted in core parts of their personality.

No Cadance has shown her flaws: both in The Times They Are A Changeling and A Flurry of Emotions! :3

Not really sure where anyone would get the idea that Twilight is a Mary Sue. From the get-go she's been shown as adorkable... and flawed.

Exactly. I personally think some people viewed her as a Mary Sue in the first place was because she is an intelligent main character.

Exactly. Rainbow Rocks and Testing Testing 123 are some examples of how even after becoming an Alicorn, Twilight is NOT going to have all the answers. In TT123, Twilight thought her study methods were the only way to learn, but she actually writes in the Friendship Journal how she learned that there's more than one way of studying.

In Rainbow Rocks, everyone assumed it would be easy for her to write a musical counter-spell to stop the Dazzlings, but she had trouble doing so and was too afraid to even tell Sunset that she was struggling with it. If you managed to see the 2-minute recap of the first 2 films before the Discovery Family premiere of Friendship Games, it had Sunset writing these words to Twilight at some point. "I wished you had told us you were having trouble writing [the musical counter-spell]. We all just assumed it would be easy for you." You see what I mean?

Something to add there, sista: Twilight really hasn't been using that much magic in a while. Most of the magic Starlight's been using! :3

Starlight Haters would say it's because the writers are "favoring Starlight".
