With the episode casting all but two ponies being horrendous shit heads, it seems to be painting the vast majority of the fandom to also be like that, all of the adult fans for sure and that is simply a bullshit generalization.

I don't think that's true. I think the faction of "Sweet Apple Admirers" are, well, us - complete with loosely attached cutie marks and enthusiastic yee-haws - and their reaction? to give us food, drink and blankets, and welcome us as part of the family.  I can't see how that's a negative message, even if it does portray us as overwhelming them with our numbers and enthusiasm.

the two fillies would then represent the original (and still core) target audience - which they do well, showing them that their message was effective and well received - leaving only the vocal minority shouting outside the palace and arguing with each other about best pony... and yeah, we need to assume that EVERYTHING they represent has been said by a fan to the writers at some point or another - ok, you can say its unfair to do that without pointing out also the vast majority of fans who love the series, but as with rarity, it is enough that one pony says something hurtful and the rest stand by and let that happen (although I SO want to find out what Starlight did to those two....)

That's what you call an unpleasable fanbase.

Yeah, every fandom has it from personal experience.

Fame and misfortune portrays an hyperbolic event to address a vocal minority that likes complaining. Both using exaggeration as a mean to convey a message.

They are made for one another, this episode and the antagonistic fans.

I am assuming it is non-canon and just there to address the fans - although the latest MLP Comic DOES reference it :)
