I just don't get it

It seems the closer we get to the movie, the more it seems fans are coming out and saying they're not sure if they should see the movie in theaters. Why?

What, because they don't want to be around little kids, that they feel will kick the seats and ruin the enjoyment of the film with their noise.  Why, because they feel adult movie goers or the ticket seller may give them a strange look for going to see the MLP Movie.  Why, because they're afraid the friends/co-workers/collages may see them going into the cinema room that the movie's playing in.

Those, along with any other excuse, shouldn't be a reason not to want to see the movie in theaters. If you want to see it, you should go see it and not worry what others have to say or what kind of looks you may get. It's your choice to see it in theaters, not no one else's.

And with the excuse of not having transportation (which I will not argue that others may not have access too) shouldn't be an excuse either, look I'm going to go and see it on opening day at it's first showing at the Turlock Regal Cinema at 11:15am, and how am I doing that, but using the SRT. Bus transportation to do so. It may get me there an hour earlier, but it will be worth it.

So if I can find a way to go see it earlier, so should you and anyone else that may be worried about seeing it in theaters.  I mean if you want to avoid that kind of environment (kids, etc.) go to an early showing, sure there may still be kids, but not as many as to what will be after school or during prime-time hours.

Look, there is absolutely no reason not to see this film.  True story, I saw "Josie and the Pussycats" in theaters during an early showing, and no one at the ticket booth, or the concessions said anything to me about it, and it wasn't even that busy or crowded, when I went, and I enjoyed the movie for what it was.

So there shouldn't be a reason for anyone here, not to want to go and see the film in theaters, remember you have early ShowTime options to choose from if you want to avoid any kids or anyone else seeing you.

And if you want a good example of how do to this, thecinemasnob        went and saw "Barbie Star Light Adventure" in theaters at an early showing on 6/30/16  

and other then one little girl giving them a look, no one really said anything to them, (check out their review on YouTube to learn more)

So if they can could do something like that without worry, then no one should be worried about seeing the MLP Movie. Remember it's not rated "PG" for nothing, Hasbro/DHX Media/Allspark and the creative team knew what they were doing, when they created this film.

So again, don't worry about what others say or think, if you want to go and see it in the theaters, that's your right. Don't let anyone make the decision for you.

PS. another thing to remember, (even through I grew up during this period), this isn't the 1986 movie. This was given time to be built upon with 6-7 seasons worth of story to work off of, not two prime-time specials before it. And then just to have it serve as a theatrical pilot for the series that came after. This version had time to build and establish itself beyond anyone's expectations.

So again don't worry about what others say, and don't make up an excuse not to want to see it in theaters.  If you want to see it, then go see it, and If someone like me can find transportation to the Regal Cinemas that are showing it in my area, then you and anyone else can find a way via transportation too.  So go, and enjoy yourself!

I think that concern is silly. It's not like they'll be burned as witches for it . Plus the transportation excuse is dumb. It's not like there aren't a million ways to reach your cinema . Kids fucking up? Well, you'd be surprised how often, from my experience, they behave, plus if they DO fuck up you are entitled to demand another ticket. Family? Friends? Co workers finding out? 1: it ain't their business, and most people don't care meddling in something as trivial as watching ponies in theaters. 2: Why you have to tell everyone what movie you're watching in the first place? Just tell them either the truth  (as like I've mentioned), most have better things to concern themselves about than dudes watching ponies. 3: I don't see dudes debating this in regards of watching a Disney film

I think it's less about the movie and more of the issue that as hyped as many fans are, they know that if they wait a little bit, it will eventually be in a medium that they may prefer. Think about it. Would you rather be able to sit at home, boot up Netflix, and watch the movie on loop for hours without having to buy a ticket per view? Maybe wait for a DVD or Blu-Ray release or even another streaming service? Movie-going is also an expensive thing nowadays; some places charging obscene amounts for a single ticket and if you plan to take family and friends, the cost gets astronomical. Imagine having to spend $9+ (on a single ticket) just to see ONE movie in a crowd of people that may/may not cooperate so your "enjoyment milage" may vary. 

Some people just want to see the movie, they don't care to have the "experience" by seeing it in a theater.

Imagine, you are going to see this film alone in the theatres. You go to a viewing and you see your boss sitting next to his daughter in the seat in front of you. How do you explain this?

"Hey, boss. I forgot to mention to you. I love My Little Pony!" or "I brought my sister with me, she'll be here in a minute or two." 

You could avoid contact, but  what if. Anyways, good luck to those that they will go to the theatres, I will go too. Granted, I don't have a boss.

There are plenty of reasons people wouldn't see the film in theaters. Age, finances, transportation, interest, and location. As much as I push people to not fear saying that they enjoy the show, I certainly don't want then to have their initial viewing of the movie impacted by any anxiety that comes with it.

Also, some people only can afford to see a few (or less) films a year. You have several films coming out after the Pony film that may interest people more. There are so many movies that have come out this year and are coming out, and many of them have me more hyped than MLP. I want to see more than this film. The Last Jedi, Justice League, Coco, and even Tho. I recently saw IT. If I had to choose just one or two films to see coming up -- pony would be waiting.

The whole age concern is the last reason I would pick. I feel people shouldn't be so friggin' paranoid about that. It is a movie about a show you love, you should embrace it.

I will say though, that my interest in the movie is diminishing as we get closer to the release. To tell the truth, I don't really know why. Could be some of the aspects of the film, could be the potential of it being bad, I don't know for sure. My excitement just isn't there. I wish it was.

I work at an animation studio, we'd probably fistbump and discuss the film afterwards XD

Seriously tho, I see your point. I guess the stigma attached to MLP is the main issue here. Like @Steve Piranha said, nobody bats an eye about people watching Disney's (or DreamWorks, for that matter) animated features. When I went to see Moana earlier this year the theatre was full of people and the majority of the audience were adults. Sure, there were parents who came to see the film with their kids, but I also saw LOTS of teenagers and college students, both male and female. 

Lots of dudes came to see a Disney princess movie and nobody was bothered by it. Everyone knows that Disney films are quality entertainment for people of all ages and genders, so nobody minds if adult men show up to see them. 

It really should be the same for the MLP movie. Jugding by the trailer, this is going to be an awesome ride with pirates, spaceships and a monkey demon villain. Tons of action sprinkled with slapstick. If sailing adventure of a Polynesian princess is suitable for adult men, then how is magical adventure of talking horses not? XD

it seems like most countries won't show the movie with the original VA's, aka undubbed.
that is a MAJOR turn-off.
i absolutely refuse to watch it dubbed.
and if no neighbouring countries shows it undubbed...then i won't see it in theatres.

That another matter entirely. If they wanna see the movie, under their own risk of spoiling all , it's cool. Think is, there's a horde of bronies who refuse to watch it out of any nonsensical concern of being the only adult, or people may think I'm a pedo, etc  . You want sequel? Just say "Those fear are stupid", but the ticket, and watch the movie

Don't know where you are at, but according to Glim Glam in the EqD Discord, there is a theater in Zurich that will be showing the original cast. Same theater that is going nuts promoting the film.

norway is where i live, or northern norway to be more precise, and there seems like no theatres in norway, sweden nor denmark will air the english verison.
and Zurich?
well i do have 2 weeks of holidays left this year and i did indeed plan to spend them when the movie airs.
i have nothing against a road trip.

I'm not a movie goer--the last movie I saw in theatres would have been around four years ago--in addition to not really liking movies in general aside from some rare exceptions--Equestria Girls to be precise among a few others for nostalgia/childhood purposes--and even then, I don't drive and my parents work so transportation would be an issue. Me? I'm just going to have to wait for the eventual DVD release later this year or early next year depending on when it gets released. I won't care about spoilers because they've become a non-issue what with Hasbro leaking out much of the content themselves.

Even though I was pretty reluctant on how I was gonna see this movie, I now know that I'm dead set on seeing it premiere night since I want to have the experience knowing that I saw the MLP Movie in the big screens; Because when the show ends, at least I will know that I went to see its big movie at its debut.

Also, I feel somewhat obligated to see it; Mostly do to that fact that I've been in this fandom for way too long that it's about time I go to an MLP related event outside the internet.

No way I'm letting this opportunity slip past me.

That's how I feel, though I will feel nervous and judged by people and I can completely understand why others might not be able to handle it.
