KillerKingBakudan 702 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 The alicorns are said to have the abilities of all three pony races, but while we've seen the princesses fly and cast spells, they were never shown pulling strength feats with their bare hooves, like smashing a boulder to pieces or hurling one over a hill. So how tough are they? 2 No questions asked.
King of Canterlot 9,603 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 Just because we haven't seen them do it yet, doesn't mean they won't! I'll bet that they probably can do those things, they just choose not to, because let's face it, it's not very princess-like to be smashing boulders and such, and I suppose they want to keep their image up with Canterlot's elite who would see such actions as "appalling farm-work not suitable for Equestria's leaders". Mirage 24,771 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 Luna's cape turns into bats... And you want to know if she can smash a rock? o3o 2 “Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing you have received--only what you have given.”
Thrond 3,263 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 Princesses don't get as many opportunities to farm or smash rocks compared to flying and using magic, so alas, we may never know. It's probably reasonable to assume they have a fair bit of physical power, though.
ShadOBabe 19,006 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 Well the general belief is that alicorns have the skills of all the three basic races. So I imagine the lovely crown-horses are as powerful as any Earth Pony. And Earth Ponies toss boulders and drag houses around. 1 Check out my artwork any time: http://shadobabe.deviantart.com/ "OMG; You are such a troll. DonMaguz 1,023 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 They're too busy, smiling all day and giving ponies lovely dreams, to show their physical strength.
ShootingStar159 2,157 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 Well, it looked like Twilight dented Star Tracker’s hoof when she stepped on it, so probably pretty strong.
Mirage 24,771 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 The show has not done much to showcase their true power - the writers are too busy trying to make the Mane 6 and friends look good. Which is fine - Luna is best princess and there is no need for discussion. *smashes all rocks* 1 “Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing you have received--only what you have given.”
Kadeda 178 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 I think there all pretty strong but it's not shown. Twilight has been shown to be pretty strong in minor cases... but nothing major.

Goat-kun 2,527 December 12, 2017 Share December 12, 2017 They get beaten by cabbage with tentacles. They are pretty damn weak. It's all borrowed strength from ToH anyway. In regards to strength, all ponies are quite weak. Smashing rocks is no big deal. Every other stronk farm boy can do that. Ask yourself: Can this creature survive a direct blow from a weapon that was made to kill it? If the answer is no then it's weak.

sweetolebob18 728 December 13, 2017 Share December 13, 2017 Twilight's power is shown most in S4 Twilight's Kingdom (part 2, fight scenes)(although she had all the Alicorn's powers) & to some extent in Three's a Crowd (also Cadence)

They ain't powered by the tree, but the most powerful attacks that defeat villains are. Remove that and ponies are crap. And yes, farm boys are stronk. So are trolls, bears, giants. Common vermin. The gods equate strength of vermin with that of ponies since they feel an incessant urge to sate their convictions with least resistance. What they cannot compare is the amount of flesh and blood and bone. It takes only one good blow to strike down a hornless pony. If that is strength then let them have it. 56 minutes ago, A.V. said: By any chance, do you mean the Plunderseeds? One and only.

Plunderseeds were powerful btw, they were made by Discord to take the power out of the Tree of Harmony, and they snuck on Celestia and Luna, doesn't make them weak. The reason why the ponies seem crap is because the show likes villains being god tier omega OP. That is why Starlight was so refreshing in season 5. Being on par with Twilight isn't got tier, she didn't get too much of a boost. I digress, on thread topic the princesses are extremely powerful, the montage showed Tirek had absorbed most of the ponies of Equestrias, and an unprepared Twilight was able to land more shots than him in a fight. Princesses>All of Equestria through magic, I imagine they have peak pegasi flight and peak Earth Pony strength at min.
Castle Bleck 19,376 December 13, 2017 Share December 13, 2017 @Ryanmahaffe Granted, the magic lessons in All Bottled Up did eventually give us something of an explanation for said boost, so I can't exactly nitpick about it anymore. Discord planted the seeds but we don't know if he was the one who created them. Seems a bit to elaborate and brutish for him. Who knows. However, to be ensnared by such weed one needs to lack in both strength and magic. This ain't Darkwood. Any random hero with a sword would be able to cut themselves free. And for such weed to silently take down a horse ... Well, that says a lot. From someone who likes creepy cults and Brotherhood of Nod Starlight wasn't all that. She was more like your average screeching leftist academia commissar. 0/10 would not follow. At least she could have been promising great power and eternal life or something. Part of the reason why I hate her. Now we'll never gonna get a real shadowy redpilled leader of a powerful secret society who wields charisma and forbidden knowledge to trap victims in a web of madness. Ah well, there's Disney. FIM villains ain't that strong. They're quite average. The only one who'd need to be gutted by a very special approach is Discord. And without ToH to make things boring, maybe Mane 6 could have become more versatile like actual heroes. That does wonders to character development. This is about strength in terms of weightlifting ability and raw bucking power. With their hooves. Could Twilight smash a boulder to pieces like Maud did when she saved Pinkie? Could she stop a boulder in its tracks with her hind legs and kick it over a hill like Applejack did in the Season 7 finale? That's what I want to know. Cwanky 17,600 December 13, 2017 Share December 13, 2017 Are we talking physical strength/power, magical power, or compared to other characters or creatures? There is one notable benchmark of sorts for Celestia and that is with Chrysalis powered up by Shining Armor's love alone, she's no match: Sorry Sunbutt fans, but your precious Celestia isn't as almighty as you may believe. Tirek in terms of scaling magical power would be nearing multi solar system levels of AP, or at least multi Star. The show doesn't show it to that degree because it's a show. Unless you mean physical strength and now power...like the thread was wanted. In that case they are not scallable. Discord was reality bending and dimension creating feats, he can be universal.
