Yeah, just remove Starlight halfway season 7, nothing will be damaged or anything. Season 6 introduced her as a new mane 7 but she absensed in almost of episodes unless the plot demand. Season 7 finally clarify her role in the show, and now they have to wrap up everything in next 2 seasons, what the point to have her in this later 2 FINAL Seasons when you have to wrap up every story arcs (Mane 6, Spike, CMC, any other races with their ALL NEW FRIENDSHIP SCHOOL?) in 2 seasons and I SWEAR TO GOD THAT THERE WILL BE MORE 'FILLER' EPISODES THAN 'PLOT-THICKEN' episodes per season due to the show format, then how can they wrap up so many plot points? 

Anyway... just enjoy while it last... Hope the remaining episodes will be great.

see thats the thing that gets me too. while i cant prove the gen 5 leaks are fake, there are contradictions the more i look into them. like it doesn't make since for any show to have just added this much lore, new races and a new official main character even going so far as to change the intro for the main character. just to be planning to end it in 2 seasons. normally when a show does that they are planning on going for awhile longer.

however, it's still a good idea to brace yourself just to be safe

An interesting thought. That way they could release a g5 as soon as the series loses popularity. As far as I know, s7 was well-recieved, so unless seasons 8-9 are bad, the series will remain popular. If they do turn out to be bad, they can just switch off to g5.

I think it would be good for Hasbro, considering the popularity of g4. I feel like getting rid of it while it's still good would be a bad idea for them as a company. If the show is doing well and getting them money, why change it? Of course, g5 is supposed to come out in 2020, which is still a while away now.

Yeah.  It's all very bizarre.  I know some people have even suggested that the G5 concepts are very old, and might not reflect Hasbro's current stance.  It's best to take this all with a grain of salt, yet like you said, brace ourselves in case this is the plan.

This seems like a legit business plan of action.  As of now I suspect this as a possibility of what they're planning.

 

Even if it all does end, hopefully I'll have a project going that will essentially make the fandom self-sufficient, through 'new' unofficial episodes made by people in the fandom (as part of a non-profit production crew).  (Writing would be regulated though, to make sure it stays true to the nature of the original show.)

It's not a guarantee, but it's not impossible to happen either. 2 years is a big timeframe, and anything can change from here. Maybe they are making G5 just to get it ready for when FiM's time to pull the trigger comes, who knows. Still, I'm prepared to say good bye to FiM withing two years, with 13 episodes the final season as they are planning currently

I am already ready for the last 52 episodes of the show, i am very strict when come to some 'last' episodes of the show, no bad episodes allowed  

 

I know that feeling. Felt exactly the same way after Magical Mystery Cure. Joined the fandom halfway S3, and they've already aired what I thought (and originally was) the final episode

Well, among the leaks there are: Molt Down (Spike episode, due to track record), Horse Play, Non-Compete Clause, and a Heartswarming episode all sound awful ideas, but thankfully these are decent at worst. Special mention goes to Molt Down, which I'm pretty sure it'll make one of the best episodes of the whole series. If S8 and S9 can keep with the quality, we may get one final year of G4 horses, and hopefully a Toon Boom Harmony made work, be it special, movie, etc. Toon Boom Harmony horses are at their cutest

Heya, I posted this in another thread and in my status, but I feel that it is relevant here as well, so I copied and pasted it! Enjoy the long read! (Yes, I have changed my mind about g5.)

 

Oh boy, long post time. I'm going to recite my entire journey from a stubborn, depressed dude to a believer!

I'm not gonna lie. When I first heard about g5, I didn't believe it. But as it started to become more and more believable, I got really worried. It didn't help that I was going through a brief period of depression, either.

The show that I had only started watching two months earlier, the show that had already helped me through one of the most depressing times my life, was going to end. Just like that.

As you can imagine, I was pissed. I was mad at the world, because I felt that everything I would love would be taken from me before I knew what happened. I slipped right back into depression. Now, at this point, I had just watched Sleepless In Ponyville, which is still one of my favorite episodes (this episode aired during the 'golden age of mlp', when the show was at its peak, and there weren't any controversies or problems). Since all I had watched was the first few seasons, I had no opinion of the problems facing the show now because I hadn't seen any of them yet. To me, the show was still FRESH and EXCITING.

Now, I'm on season 5. I have done my research on the problems facing the show, and I understand them. I have accepted that the first few seasons are over, and those memories will be with me forever. I won't forget the joy the show gave me. The show has changed a lot since seasons 1 and 2, and despite all the changes in the show that I may not have agreed with, I still LOVE THIS SHOW. I will always love My Little Pony, because I am (as cheesy as it sounds) very, very grateful for how much it helped with my life. 

Look at Star Wars! Lots of lifelong fans dislike the new movies, but they still love the series! Pony will be the same way for me.

And besides, shows that run on forever (Simpsons, fairly odd parents) may have been great in the early days, but they deteriorate. I don't want that to happen to the ponies I know and love.

 

So, despite my past hatred of generation 5, I have decided to change my ways and embrace the new generation with open arms, because I won't let any changes to this awesome show get me down. They are still the same ponies, this is still the same show, just changed up a bit!

 

(I just hope they at least make Twilight a Unicorn, though...)

 

;tldr, I will always love MLP no matter what, and I'd rather them continue the show with a new generation than run out of ideas and end up messing the show up. I put my faith in the crew to make MLP even better!

Technically we shouldn't even know any of this because all the assets and e-mails are leaked stolen property from Hasbro and DHX. It kinda sucks it got leaked so early though because now we have to worry about what's going to happen to our show for another two years ya know? It's kinda like we have no control over the situation or the final product and this is all just pointless worrying and speculation.

yeah that is true and toy sales have been down, right now anyway the only thing that is official is season 8, how ever if the leaks are fakes, they're really good fakes. there still are some inconsistencies, and the leaks should still be taken with a grain of salt, however, it's still best to prepare yourself, the show has gone on for 8 seasons, it's not going to last forever either way. im just happy that starlight after all this time is finally being accepted into the mane group ^-^ which is the one of the only leaks you can really prove as fact right now.

Anyone with basic knowledge of photo editing could make an email, take a screenshot, and edit it to make it look like someone else made the email.

I'm not COMPLETELY sure that's what's going on, but it is plausible. So we shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.
