Since its looking like Season 9 is the final season of FIM.

The main villains will be Grogar the necromancer, resurrected King Sombra. And there's a 99.9% chance Queen Chrysalis. Actually my theory is Chrysalis is so desperate she releases the most powerful and dangerous sorcerer ever(thought as a mere fairy tale in Twilights favorite book) To regain his full strength, he resurrects King Sombra(flesh and blood and at full power) he uses him to create hate and fear(which feeds Grogar) Sombra spell is able to infect all in Ponyville including the students and others, oh and leaks show

-This Elements of Harmony have been shattered

 -Dark crystals of Sombra pop up all over Ponyville and the crystal empire.

-Tree of harmony destroyed

He can't be reformed yet, not in the finale! The only thing that can reform him is his brother, which is something that should be saved for a completely separate episode, like the Hearth's Warming special!

If it's true (which I doubt), then...

 

...hopefully, Sombra won't become a disappointing loser (e.g., Fall Of The Crystal Empire by Silly Filly Studios), but instead like his well-received self from both FIENDship Is Magic and Siege Of The Crystal Empire.

 

According to the Season 8 leaks, they've already recanonized parts of The Journal Of The Two Sisters, so who knows?

Was hat in the leaks? I've seen a lot, but missed much as well. Man, this sounds pretty epic, I hope Grogar doesn't make an appearance, but Chrysy gets his powers. I think it's better for the series to have one of the best, and now official recurring antagonist to be the final threat, and Grogar just the means

I think it's save to say that things have gotten very serious.

Personally, when it comes to the finale

I would prefer it to be a season-wide arc, starting with the rematch with King Sombra, and ending with the final confrontation with Grogar.  And the series finale isn't the end of the series.  We still have that grand finale special that will air later next year.
