I'm not very musically inclined, but until recently, Dire Straits was my favorite band by default. I have the Brothers in Arms album on cassette and listen to it on an awesome but less than perfect portable player. :derp:

Also, it's just one of those songs that just gets me going and I would jam out to it with my dad and brothers.

I would think of it as a celebratory sort of thing so most of my songs would be upbeat, like Augie’s Great Municiple Band from The Phantom Menace, Beethoven’s Ode To Joy, and maybe Clair de Lune just for a calm moment between the more rousing beats. There’s a nice Anton Diabelli Mass that would be nice but of the seven he’s written it’s impossible to find the correct one anywhere online so I can’t give the specific name or even an excerpt. Maybe I’d finish the whole thing off with the Twin Sunset music from Star Wars; it’s hard to beat for pure sweeping beauty.

I think that's a dark topic for a site like this. But to be sporting, these spring to mind...

I don't want to set the world on fire

It's all over but the crying

Christmas At Ground Zero

The End Of The World

Maybe

Incidentally these have a connection to MLP as Weird Al voiced a character. The others were used in Fallout games and fans created a Fallout Equestria.

Not to try and escape the topic but ideally I'd be listening to them from space on one of those sci-fi ark-ships as we set of to settle another planet.

I know what you mean about nuclear war. Every time I've opened my browser the last few months it's full of news items with titles that have been tweaked to sound worse then they are about looming nuclear war, the doomed climate and imamate meteor strikes.

But to you and anyone else who feel the end is nigh, I offer you these to videos to help you re-examine the situation and have hope for the future.

Steven Pinker Makes the Case for Optimism - how the news is skewed to the negative while the world is objectively better then it's ever been.

School of life, Roman history - This one made by the School of Life notes that the news is full of crisis. But uses history to show us how commonplace non-crisis is. I don't agree with everything the school says and wouldn't recommend you take all it's advice. But this one is two thumbs up.

Coca-Cola Commercial: "Reasons To Believe" - This may be primarily a way to sell soda but that doesn't mean it's not also truly inspirational.

No matter what Komm Susser Tod has to be on everyone's end of the world playlist. No better song to listen to while the whole world gets turned back into the primordial soup.

Louder than any words ever...

Yes, that's all done on a guitar, unedited, one take.

Life is one take, then you get unplugged. It's so weird...
