Whether it is Type 1 or Type 2, do any of you have Diabetes?

Thankfully, no. Last 2 tests were normal. Diabetes runs in my family and is of great concern to me. Most in my family above 50 has it and other health problems.

I don't have it, yet. Diabetes runs in my family and I've been told that I'm very likely to get it when I'm older.

Runs on both sides. Dad has it but I've avoided it thus far and I think I'm mostly in the clear. I used to have huge blood sugar problems but I don't any more.

Same here. My dad is diabetic and over 50. Plus, I'm also overweight... and that puts me at an even higher risk for it. :S

Sugar does not cause Diabetes, but too much sugar can increase your risk for Type 2 Diabetes

I see. So it's mostly genetic then. Was kinda worried that I would get it someday.

Sometimes, I wonder why you continue asking questions like this, but at least this one isn't disturbing in nature. To answer your question, I don't believe I have diabetes though I've never thought about checking it with a doctor.

You might want to get your blood sugar checked, especially if you have a family history of Diabetes. You could already be a prediabetic by now

I don't have any type of diabetes, however, my little brother got type 1 diabetes at the age of 6, so I have a quite high risk of getting it as well, but that doesn't really concern me. Sure, my little brother has to keep track of everything he eats and inject insulin after every meal. It's tedious, but unless you love eating sweets and sugary stuff all the time (which I don't), it doesn't impaire you very much.

You know Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder, right? Prevention is impossible for Type 1 Diabetes

Yeah it is, if I get it someday, I'll have to live with it, but there are worse things then type 1 diabetes, I could live with it.

Well, take care of yourself and watch what you eat, young lady.

Your body will thank you, especially your pancreas.

No, but I know people who do (one of my childhood friends from Washington has Type 1 diabetes, and I know a few with Type 2) and I'm really thankful not to have it. I'd be dead for sure.

I do not, but a friend of mine has type one and I knew a person that had type two.
