Why Are People Saying Yeet?

I've never heard the term in use, and I'm glad. These fleeting absurd trends are so silly, and used often enough, can be downright irritating.

To my understanding, yeet is said in basketball when some human shot a three pointer and are sure that it will go in the hoop. Before 2017, that’s what I knew it as. Now, it is one of the most annoying words I have heard.

I asked my sister what yeet even means and they she said she has no idea   Does anyone else feel me?

YEET!!!! Among my students it usually implies the throwing of an object behind ones self typically with a stiff arm motion like a catapult. That may just be our micro culture. As in you finished eating an apple and you yeet the core.
