Which of the Mane 6 do you find most useless?

None of the Mane 6 are useless. For the record, if even 1 of the Mane 6 were missing, Discord, Tirek and Nightmare Moon would still be wreaking havoc on Equestria since you wouldn’t have all of the Elements of Harmony.

Probably Rainbow Dash cause she can be either lazy or too proud of herself to the point where she accidentally underperforms. Doesn’t happen often, but there’s been instances like in Ticket Master where she napped instead of assisted AppleJack on her farm.

In terms of friendship, I think Rarity. She is more interesting in fashion than making friends.

I don't think any of them are useless. They all are great friends and each have their important role to play in the group. They each have their highs and lows, but they are all useful. After all, it was through all six of them that Equestria was able to be saved.

But if a really had to pick one, I'd say Rarity. It's not that she's useless or is a bad friend; It's just that compared to the others, she just doesn't seem to bring as much to the table other than her fashion sense. Many say that Fluttershy would be the most useless because of how "weak and helpless" she may come off at times, but she always pulls through in the end. Yeah she may not be the strongest or most physically skilled, but she's made such a strong impact on the group and has really come through for her friends. I'm not saying that Rarity hasn't , just that her impact doesn't come off as strong as the others.

I agree, even in the case of Rarity, it would not be fair to shame her for ambition and creativity, and also a skilled combatant as shown against a horde of Changelings in A Canterlot Wedding. Pinkie Pie's optimism helps maintain positivity in the group and give them the drive to keep fighting, some people may not appreciate her as much as I would but laughter is a good counterbalance to pessimism and I say this as someone who isn't good at jokes myself but I do see the value in it, and it can be said with a fair amount of credibility that she boosts morale of her team no matter how hopeless a situation may seem, Applejack's honesty does matter in a friendship and can be equally as important as Fluttershy's kindness, and without Twilight Sparkle, none of their villains would've been defeated, Rainbow Dash is a determined fighter and quick, but Twilight Sparkle is a better analyst who figures out weaknesses of their enemies, it's not just her magic that defeated Discord in The Return of Harmony, Twilight Sparkle is analytical and a problem solver.

None of the Mane Six are useless.

We never saw ponies at the Golden Oak Library borrowing books.

Dash. She's abrasive, impulsive, a blow hard, spends so much time rocking to her own music, the wheels on the cassette tape gave out. 

She gets herself into trouble, she gets the rest of the Mane 6 into trouble. She is further behind on what friendship is than Twilight was at the beginning of the show. She does make progress but it's small and slow. 

She has an ego worthy of any man and she's terrified of its dignity not being protected.

And if it weren't for every single one of these foibles, the show would be too boring to be worth watching. So, thank you RD for singlehandedly making FIM worthwhile for us all, once again you've saved the day all by yourself!
