Well I loved Celestia from the first episode. Her design is absolutely flawless. White and gold are one of my favorite color combos, I love sun symbolism, I love the colors of dawn and sunsets, and I love Big Good paragons. She’s super kind and wise, but know she how to appreciate having fun.

She got a lot of flack and harassment as well, and that always tends to make me want to jump to any character’s defense and like them even more to try and “make up” for the crap.

There’s also some deeply personal reasons I’ve gotten attached to my Mom Horse. I won’t go into too much detail, but she legitimately helped me cope with the clinical depression while I was in college. I’m not being dramatic. This cartoon horse literally helped me face the day at times, at the suggestion of my therapist, who basically suggested I use her as a portable supportive friend in my head, encouraging me when I needed it.

She is BEST pony. No one can tell me otherwise.

 

As for Shadow, man, that story begins in 6th grade. I was in the school library and was flipping through a copy of Nintendo Power. It had a section about Sonic Advance 2, and there was a big spread with all the characters. I had never been into Sonic before, though I knew of him. And I just could not stop looking at the characters. They were all so cute/cool looking. So I took the magazine home and set about learning how to draw the characters.

I became absolutely enthralled, and started looking everywhere for more info on the games. And during that search, I discovered Shadow. And he was the coolest friggin’ thing my little 11 year old self had ever SEEN. His design intimidated me at first, but I set about learned to draw him as well. And the rest is history. He’s was my favorite inspiration for the next 8 years or so.

 

Favorite junk food is probably... cheesecake. I’d make myself sick on that stuff.

You're speaking my language. I loved her color scheme and mane colors too. I loved her appearance in episode 1 and many other appearances afterwards. I wish she could do more awesome things like how Twilight and the crew often save the world, but I'm fine with what we got.  Here's to mom horse!

I don't know if you have time or not, but if you really like Shadow, you should at least play Sonic Adventure 2. That was the game where he made his grand appearance, and it set the stage for how he would be portrayed in future games.  Yes, I am a MASSIVE Sonic dork... Second only to my love of Tokusatsu!

Also, do you think I should start my own "Ask" thread? I keep getting the feeling that no one would really leave any replies if I did...

Haha!! Oh don’t you worry hon. I played every single 3D Sonic I could get my hands on for the next few years. SA2 was my favorite. Follow me, set me free, trust me and we will escape from the city!

I do t see why not! But I know I do have to promote mine now and again. Like occasionally mentioning it in status updates, stuff like that. Maybe you could put a link to it in your signature too.

Same. I missed out on the Royal Crown Badge myself. XP

That’s the Team Canterlot Badge. It was for the World Cup themed character popularity contest we had a few years ago. I was a Coach for that team. Celestia was voted Team Captain, so the Badge was modeled after her.

Unfortunately you might be out of luck getting one just like it. They would have to hold another World Cup, and Celestia would have to get through the voting rounds and get the Team Captain spot again.

I unfortunately didn’t get to see the contest through to the end, but I did participate. Ahuizotl was on Team Canterlot too, and I remember @Jerica calling it “Team ShadOBabe” once. XD

Only if I can’t convince Tia to turn me back. I think she’d cave eventually, since forcibly changing species isn’t nice, especially permanently. And Tia is super nice. Though she’ll probably make me say, “I’m Best Pony” first.
