For me, I think as long the new voice fits the character and brings life to them. People overacted when they heard about VA being replaced. Sure it sucks but at the same time, not surprising. As I said before too. Once a series is no longer independent expect some changes. I'm looking forward to it neverthless though! And people should always welcome new VA instead of boycotting and harassing them. Or expecting them to sound alike

Yeah, this news about the voice actors getting fucked over has completely killed my enthusiasm and I dont care anymore. The voices that we've grown to love after all this time gets tossed aside just so Vivzie can cast a bunch of precious "celebrities" because OF COURSE. Of course she lines up to sell herself to celebrity worship BULLSHIT. All the while she CONSTANTLY is trying to sell shit to us, shit for the characters that those original voice actors MADE FAMOUS FOR HER. 

Vivziepop can shove it. I was so excited for the full series of Hazbin and that excitement has been completely destroyed in an instant because that's how it always goes. It doesnt matter what I enjoy. Eventually capitalism and celebrity worship will find some way to ruin it. That's what this is, vivziepop being a soulless shill to celebrity worship culture and capitalism. I'm sure she'll have another one of her bullshit sales sometime soon and just beg for us to buy all of that stuff again and again for a show that has had only one episode under its belt for over two years after she throws the great voice actors out the window. Great, just great.

Don't give up yet @Kyoshi. There are a lot of people speaking up about this, and some might think they know the reasons. The thing is, the moment the show was sold, the creator won't have control anymore. It is up to the company that own the franchise to make the right decision, to hire the right voice actors. If they fail, the show will not succeed. So wait and see, as one voice in the show can break or make the series.

That Viv has sold merchandise of Hazbin Hotel as long as possible before giving out this information is however, not so nice.

That to me is part of why I kinda want to abandon it now before I'm disappointed entirely. While Helluva Boss has seemingly remained independent and good as a result of that, Hazbin now might be lost to corporate before it even has officially begun. Either that or, as that that Tweet seems to say, it might have been Vivzie's decision and if that's the case, I see the ploy. Throw out the "unknown" cast, bring in celebrities to replace them and boom, super easy recognition from the masses. It is working wonders for the Mario movie, even though that movie is likely going to suck.

It makes me question how much of this is being done with a money making mindset over a creative mindset. With how much she's been selling merchandise for the past two years with little to nothing in terms of development, I feel she is already in a corporate mindset. I became attached the voice talent of the pilot quickly, Angel Dust especially and now he may not feel the same. No way to know until then but the entire feel of this situation has dampened my enthusiasm almost entirely. It just feels wrong to me. I'm so sick and tired of everything being corporate and about "celebrities".

While I can understand that new voice actors can mean new talent being brought in, this feels too much like toeing a mainstream line to try and get name recognition. What I am afraid of is Hazbin toning down on the stuff they have for example been doing in Helluva Boss or even in the Pilot. I agree with @Kyoshi, this feels very dejecting. I really liked the voice actors for Angel Dust and Alastor. They felt really right in my eyes. Similar instances where I felt dejected is when they announced the Mario Movie without Charles Martinet who has been Mario's voice for who knows how long. I also felt similarly when they announced a Sly Cooper movie, which seems to have failed though, where they announced they were basically keeping all the voices except for Kevin Miller who has voiced Sly in all of the games where they wanted to replace him with some celebrity. 

The thing people need to realize about voice acting is that one does not require name recognition to get people to watch your material since you don't see the actor in question. You only hear their voices and usually when you get name recognitions to get involved in voice acting, I usually see a downward trend rather than an upward trend since conventional actors, especially the famous ones, are not known for having a variety of voices. Rewatching a lot of older movies I have come to recognize famous people just through their voice alone since it is very samey in every movie they produce. Voice actors, however, can put on a variety of different voices to suit their characters. Not saying they can't do so at all since you do have some ridiculously powerful actors who have crazy voice control. But I don't think someone like Chris Pratt can be a believable Mario, no offense. 

So yeah, this really sucks, but I really hope it is preventable, since it would be very sad to lose something as golden as Hazbin to corporate control since the whole reason why it started in the first place was to show that independent shows and media can survive without being owned by the big fish, that you don't need large money backing from a few individuals just to make a good product~

They were pretty much the most important, and also because they were featured in fan content, fan animation, live streams, and all kinds of stuff, making their voices more important than the characters for many fans. I agree with everything you said!

 

But we also have to realize that Hazbin is now 3 years old, and during that time, most of us have been left out in the dark, some believing the voice actors would always be with the show, and maybe even be the show or represent the show. Now when it is clear that that is not the case (and it was quite obvious for anyone working in the industry, that voice actors don't move between studios or different ownership of a product, as they aren't the product), we have to start accepting this, watch the show when it comes out, and then draw our judgment.

It is the merchandising that has annoyed me. No problem with Helluva Boss, but alongside that, the Hazbin characters have been sold on t-shirts and accessories. Those characters are not the same anymore when their voice actors are not the same, so it is a little bit shady to sell such character without first telling that they would be changed. Get as much money before the bad news, is not a nice thing to do.

Honestly, people really need to chill out about this whole recasting “issue”. I cannot and will not speak for these old VA actors and actress on what their thoughts are about this. I rather hear their own thoughts about it rather someone’s else’s. Until then, this shouldn’t surprise anyone and also people are too quick jumping the gun on something that hasn’t been released yet.

I am being more skeptical about Hazbin for every week now. The longer they wait, and the more merchandise they try to sell as of the latest advertisement videos on YouTube, makes me think the worst.

I understand that they need money to keep up the production of Helluva Boss as each episodes gets more and more attention to detail from the previous one. But where is Helluva Boss? Where is Hazbin Hotel? Remember the hype of 2019? Remember all the months of 2022??

Productions like these, you know Helluva Boss, where each episode gets better and better, take longer and longer time, eventually breaks the team behind it. I have seen this with other shows (DragonBall Z Abridge) that started low quality, and then got to such quality that it took a full year between episodes.

 

I expected closer release dates between a part 1 and part 2 episode. At the same time, we got trailers for future episodes.

Is the selling of merchandise a sign that a new episode is coming out soon? Or is it a desperate attempt at getting as much as possible before the production breaks?

 

And where is Hazbin Hotel?

I was about to get worry about them skipping an episode and jumped straight to S2 but the transition was like you won’t even notice! Like what “skipped episode” are you talking here? Lol. The episode start off a very good with Stolas’s past and how he met Blitz was just so wholesome. It’s like every time we have Stolas episode, the more I like his character more and more! He just so precious and you only want him to be happy. This is truly a hearth warming  yet a bittersweet episode. It’s like watching some Kdrama . All I can say is I’m glad Stolas is standing up for himself.
