It is good to distance yourself from having so many material possessions. I have begun to do so and it does make me feel better since I'm losing interest in a lot of things I currently own. I don't really think about money and how it ties to happiness and that much, honestly. If anything it ties to a little sense of freedom, since if you've got a good amount of your own money, you can choose where it goes.

I believe that this is true. Money cannot buy you happiness. People have all these fantasies of living the rich life where you have all of these things, keyword being things. At the end of the day, these things are gonna rot away and then what? What will be left. I've heard that people who have a lot of money and stuff still have a hole to fill, and that's a sign that money cannot buy happiness. Last year, there was a contestant on AGT who said "You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy." It's all up to you. You can either walk around with all of the burdens of life weighing you down, or cast them all away and soar high in the sky filled with joy.

I have enough room to have as many possessions as I need and want. It makes me happy to collect and have things, but only if I understand why, Money definitely helps, but not to get the stuff I want. I don't like Ferraris just because they cost money.

Well if you have no money, you'll be dead - no food or water, unless you are lucky or eat and drink the stuff that will give you diseases. So, money does give you happiness to some extent, because I don't think any homeless person is happy.

I think money for security is a good thing but I no longer think of material things as having as much attraction as they once did. As long as I can have enough to pay the bills and maybe travel just a little bit, I'm perfectly happy.

Money creates stability and stability allows happiness to even begin forming, for the most part. If one is struggling financially then they will have so very little time to form true happiness. Depending on the person of course but for the most part financial struggle creates misery. Obviously a Ferrari is a stretch but this is a system where one person can afford 10 Ferraris while 10 people can't afford one Ferrari.

Maybe it doesn't buy happiness, but it saves you from misery.

It depends on how one sees things I guess, but personally I have to disagree, I'd be able to buy tons of happiness.

With money I'd be able to work towards better tomorrow. Finally move out, quit depressing job and devote all my time to hobbies, family and friends. Just being able to chill out for once would make me happy, given my health is already alarming me about problems. Sit down and drink tea without stressing about time and job. I don't even want a Ferrari, that indeed wouldn't change anything at all.

Money would open possibilities I seek to try.

Anyway, people who say money isn't all usually say it in context of not having anyone to love and share, expressing that love is better than money. Yeah, I agree, being alone sucks and money can't truly fix that, but out of that context when it's about money itself, love and money are two different topics.
