After thinking about it, I decided to unlock this thread, as the question in the title is well suited for a discussion. 

I believe that Celestia and Luna were at their prime in the first 4 seasons. However, that doesn't mean they diminished. To answer your question, yes! I'd say a spinoff would absolutely work.
