Another good ep! I liked how the focus was more on a background pony and Sunny trying to help her out. I liked the conflict and enjoyed the resolution.

Also Dahlia...is super cute OMG.

Also for someone who freaked out about the several times Maretime Bay's been wrecked, Sunny doesn't seem to mind when she's the one helping destroy it...

Another great episode as usual! Love how they focused on a background pony for once and it was funny how the flowers were made pretty through magical sneezes! Sunny is still getting used to her Alicorn magic and Dahlia is a pretty cute pony too!

They actually thought about how ponies just being able to magically grow flowers would impact the business of florists? Gotta give them props for that. Oh yeah, and mucus making the flowers beautiful before the colors melted. Also have to give them props for how they keep managing to make gross humor work in this cute show.

That was quite an interesting ending, with things not being totally resolved. I have a feeling the magic mishaps will carry over into MYM.

Earth pony magic still needs polishing, which is fitting for the plot.

I wonder if Earth pony magic can be contained in glitter and rocks that "reproduce" like plants do, like seeds, spores, etc.

This could end up with "flora" and "geo" ponies fighting over them, which would cause quite the issue.

Also, this could also be the more "conventional" version of rock farming. What would Pinkie think of that?

I'd say this was a great episode!

It reminded me a lot of the Pinkie Pie chapter book, actually:  the writers are actually paying attention to how changes to the world would affect the characters in it in terms of economics:  in Pinkie's chapter book, the appearance of the Crystal Empire caused a drop in demand for ordinary stone, which put Pinkie's family's rock farm in financial peril.  Putting Dhalia's business in peril due to earth pony magic is a good example of something similar!

It is fitting that the glowing flowers would eventually lose color since the glow effect was caused by a Earth pony's snot from an allergy reaction to pollen.

Nice to see a background pony take center stage this time around. While there is nothing wrong with the main cast, they don't always have to be the center of attention. I also liked the concept here and that even the best of intentions can end up going wrong.

I loved this kind of stuff in FIM, when a background pony would get their chance to shine. And they handled it really well this time around. Really hoping Dahlia gets another major role in a future MYM episode.

I liked this episode because it focused on a background character* while still having main cast involvement.

Which, is something FiM wouldn't do in ANY of its nine seasons.

 

*I don't count Gabby or Moon Dancer. I mean more like  one of the dozens of Apple family members or even an episode about Celestia and Luna.

When every earth pony can create flowers by magic, there's nothing special about creating flowers with hard work or natural talent  and then nobody wants to buy those flowers because of that. It's like saying magic creates problems

This is one of the most weirdly paced episodes of TYT so far, and that is saying a lot. It starts with Dahlia sad due to her crashing business, and Sunny deciding to help her utilize her magic. Then, it shifts into Dahlia having learned how to use her magic, and causing massive flowers to sprout throughout the city. If that wasn't already a pretty big shift from the original premise that the episode started with, then the episode just becomes all about everypony in Maretime bay sneezing constantly (with a random song in the background). Then everything is resolved and Dahlia starts to sell magical flowers. All of these events were somehow crammed together for a five minute episode. 

One of the big aspects that this episode focused on was Earth Pony magic, and it didn't really help to make it any less confusing. First off, can all Earth Ponies magically make flowers, or just some? It isn't made very clear as to how many ponies could just make their own flowers rather than buy them from Dahlia. Plus, unless other Earth Ponies are giving them away for free, couldn't Dahlia still sell her flowers to Pegasi and Unicorns since they can't magically make flowers. Another strange thing is the magnitude of this magic. How was one Earth Pony able to create massive flowers all across the town? Is there no cool down or limit when it comes to Earth Pony magic? While the concept of Earth Ponies having magic is a cool one, the way its being handled doesn't make much sense. It almost seems like it will become something that is just used in any way that is convenient to the plot. 

If there are some positives for this episode, however, it would be that it's basic premise on one that had potential and that it was nice to see a background pony be the focus. It gives me hope that other background ponies like Fifi and Windy will have their own episodes as the series goes on.

I didn't mind this one for the most part.  Hopefully the worst episodes of TYT (and G5 in general) are behind us.  The last couple episodes have been fine, I guess.  Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any sign of things getting any better either.  The song in this episode is also...fine, I guess, but is definitely not on the same level as what Ingram used to produce for G4.

Gosh, this has got to be the weirdest, most strangely paced episode I have ever seen, but it’s nice that they focused on a background pony this time.
