1. While "Love and Tolerate" is generally our slogan, there is just as much diversity in thought and opinion in this community as there is anywhere else in the world.

2. You will see things that can't be unseen. Welcome to the internet.

3. If you have a question or theory, don't be afraid to ask, but google for the answer first. This fandom is big enough and been around long enough that what you're looking for is already out there. For that very reason, don't be surprised if there's less engagement than expected.

4. Remember this is all in good fun. Enjoy yourself, be silly.

5. Don't forget to wash behind your ears.

"What Advice would you give a New Brony?"

Every pony is the "best pony" just because some Bronies might dislike ___ that doesn't mean that you shouldn't like them if they make you happy.

I hope this makes sense.

Be careful who you trust. Stay out of drama. Keep to your own, and just enjoy the show.

  1. That sounds like something a Changeling would say. :Pharynx: :Angry-zip:/:P

 2. If possible.

3. Keep to your own? Sunny Starscout Intervention Squad! :Sunny-huh:/:P

4. Absolutely! :D

You don't really need to "come out" as a brony to people. I see this with the furry community as well and I don't quite get it. Both are just hobbies, it's not like you'd go up to your mom and dad and say "Mom, Dad, I'm a gamer." (although the mental image of someone doing that is pretty funny).

You shouldn't feel bad or be shamed for liking gens besides g4.

If you're under 18, be especially careful about who you trust. Even more so if someone is significantly older than you.

Don't underestimate how good non-canon fanworks can be. Equestria at War for example can rival or eclipse the writing of the main show at times while still maintaining some of the charm the show has (varies a lot depending on the specific story/nation but there's a lot of wholesome ones out there. Posada from that mod is genuinely one of my all time favorite characters).

"Mom, Dad... I like ice cream."

In all seriousness, though, I second what iforgotmybrain said. Use common sense, remember that fanworks/fanart can be awesome, and most of all: remember that being a brony/MLP fan is not a lifestyle. You don't have to (and probably shouldn't) make MLP your life. Have other hobbies and goals. MLP is a show, not a religion.

Good luck and enjoy the fandom!

If you want merch, especially of main characters, you can often find it for super cheap in secondhand lots and Craigslist and whatnot. Kids end up with so many extra Mane 6 ponies that a lot of them will even be in good or salvageable condition.

If you want to secure your access to the show to rewatch, get DVDs or something, don't rely on subscription services to keep all seasons.

Be aware of shock stuff like the fanfics about "Cupcakes" and "Rainbow Factory". People will reference them or make videos about them, etc., and sensitive people may find them unsettling, not knowing what they're getting into.

To take your time and to enjoy the ride

It's a great experience exploring this

Also maybe to be brave.  There are many similar people like you hear - believe me
