This show was my bread and butter growing up, and the classic episodes still are very memorable. My favorite episode's probably Survival of the Idiots for comedy gold like Patback.

I think Seasons 1, 2, 3, and the first half of Season 4 were amazing. Then the latter part of Season 4, Season 5, and Season 6 came, and everything went to shit. Season 7 was meh, but honestly, Season 8 is not horrible; it fact, it's actually really great, and if this is any sort of foreshadowing sign, Season 9 will be even better.

 

I feel like people judge the show now on the stereotype that ALL new episodes are shit, when really, these episodes aren't horrible at all. Sponge is back, and if people actually gave it a chance...

Man, I used to be OBSESSED with spongebob as a kid. I still like the older episodes that I grew up with, some of them were genuinely funny. I feel like the show should have ended a long time ago, though. It's outlived itself.

The episodes before the movie were cartoon gold (up there with MLP:FiM of course)

 

The movie was okay.

 

Now it sucks, and he is just being killed more being on merchandise. Along side, their making a sequel to the movie. (sigh, my childhood has been ruined)

 

I know what you mean. I mean, I like the episode where Spongebobs house disapears. After a certain point, it totally went downhill. I probably wont watch it again, but it is a good memory of my childhood.

Yeah as stated above i also think the show should of ended after the movie. Ahhh i remember the first spongebob when he was playing with his leaf blower and the only dialogue was "You!"

I loved this show before the movie came out. Then the show died. It became yet another cartoon I can't stand. (Because of terrible stories, gross humor, and horrible directing.)

I'm tired of the "All new episodes suck, it's all about the old episodes!" I agree that Season 5-7 were horrible, but Season 8 was AMAZING, and up there with the ranks of MLP:FiM and SB S1-3. Check out episodes like Ghoul Fools, Planet of the Jellyfish, Chum Fricassee, Home Sweet Rubble, Sweet and Sour Squidward, The Krabby Patty That Ate Bikini Bottom, as well as other S8 eps.

Anyway my favorite spongebob episode is a tie between band geeks, and the Christmas one. My favorite character is squidward, and my favorite quotes are as follows:

I think the last episode I saw was maybe the one where the Krusty Krab gets taken over by some corporation or something.

I'm going to make this clear. Spongebob was my entire childhood. I had Spongebob merch, Spongebob dvds, a Spongebob backpack. The whole deal.

I think one of my favorite scenes is where Mr. Krabs makes Spongebob get all this stuff for him to give to Mrs. Puff, and then finally Spongebob gets fed up with it and starts cussing at Mr. Krabs XD

I've seen some of the episodes from the last few years and I guess I just don't understand how people think it has gone downhill.

 

One of the episodes even had Squidward getting a friend that played the bassoon. The bassoon! That's my instrument! The episode = automatically awesome.

EVERYBODY except me seems to watch this show and love it, kid or adult. I never did. In the first place, my lack of cable TV and distaste for the animation style were hard to overcome. And I saw Spongebob everywhere I went so I was sick of him before I even saw my first episode...which I did not enjoy in the slightest. -_- So I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Season 6... we're now in Season 8. Since Season 6, there has been DRASTIC improvement, to the point where Season 8 is far superior to Season 1. You're one of those who are still stuck in the stereotype that ANYTHING after the movie is absolute garbage (which simply isn't true).

My 2¢. Season 1 of Spongebob is golden. It had the best writing, timing, everything. Season 2 is great. Season 3 is pretty good.

 

ANYTHING POST MOVIE (SEASON 4 ONWARD) SUCKS! (there will be little laughs thrown in true, but as a whole...terrible.)

Well here is my opinion of Spongebob Squarepants one of the high points of my childhood.

 

Season 1 was classic and great, Season 2 was amazing and was the peak of the show, Season 3 was sweet, Loved the movie, Season 4 was pretty good to OK(best day ever was the first episode that disappointed me), Season 5.... eh, Season 6 was one of the lowest points where i pretty much stopped watching sadly, i am really not familiar with too much more, i guess the humor isn't for me today since it just doesn't appeal anymore to what it once did. It seems to have improved recently but honestly it lost the appeal for me, really sad. I love watching some of the older episodes from my childhood though as it brings back good memories. I guess i am too old to like the modern Spongebob, i still like the characters i just don't like the direction the show has headed, its seems to have gotten too extreme and too much gross humor but maybe that is changing so i really should give it another chance.

I'll admit it, I still watch it. Although I can't keep up with the new episodes. A few years ago, I got the first 100 episodes on DVD. Now I'm just waiting until they make a next 100 episodes so I can watch them all and catch up.
