Ps2 was the rage yeah the coolest and I got it launch date. Before that yeah stuff like gameboy, gamecube and playstation that kinda stuff. But i wasn't that into gaming back then.

But I wasn't experienced enough in internet or gaming industry and completely missed all excitement and hype from the next generation

The first console i remember anyone talk about during my existence was the Super Nintendo, that was new and popular when i was a child.

That's the one I remember being everywhere. I didn't knew anyone that had one but me though because I didn't had friends and at school no one was allowed to bring toys or anything. Never heard anyone talked about it either otherwise I would have follow them in hopes we could be friends... So I think it was just a thing I saw on commercials and magazines as a thing that was happening. There was a huge black market for the games too.

(I basically grew up with the Super Nintendo—SNES—and its classics; I will never forget the days I jumped on baddies in Super Mario World, or when I swinged through the trees in Donkey Kong Country, or blasted several alien monsters in Super Metroid or slashed through the forces of evil in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past... That was the greatest system of my time, for me, anyway. And I'll always cherish those classics to this day!)
