I've always liked the 6-point star design, and Twilight's cutiemark has 7 of them.

 

Trixie's on the other hand is just an all around amazing design.

Twilight Sparkle. Not just because she's my favorite pony but because of the intricate symbolism that so many different fans have postulated from the number of points on the star to the arrangement to even relations to geometric objects.

 

My favorite is perhaps that the total number of points on Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark = 42. Each star represents the Elements of Harmony. The Elements of Harmony are together at the moment from friendship and the central friend: Twilight Sparkle, connects them. So therefore, Friendship is Magic is the meaning of life. Or something along those lines.
