gaming What is the best GTA of all time?

( If there's already a topic about this, let me know! )

I've always been a fan of Grand Theft Auto, but they're all really different to me, so the differences make the games really unique. Although Grand Theft Auto V isn't out yet, I can already assume it will be my favorite.

Here's my list:

  • GTA 5 (Assumption) - I like it because the graphics are really great, I'd love to see San Andreas remade, and I heard of a bunch of possible features, which sound great. Plus, how can you say no to this?

    Posted Image

  • GTA 4 - I really like New York City, although I've never been there before, and Niko's cool. The animations are really smooth, which I really like in video games, and the missions aren't as glitchy as San Andreas'. Though the map seems very small and you can't pilot an airplane, I still really like it. Plus the online is just hectic, which I love in games.

  • GTA: San Andreas - The map is absolutely huge, and you find yourself lost often, which I really like in GTA. I'll be honest, I always used cheats on this game, and I don't see myself living without them. The list of cheats on San Andreas is probably the biggest cheat list in all video game history. Or at least I've seen. There are plenty of vehicles, including airplanes, which is what we all love. The career mode is freaking long. I've played it all day and I've only made it to 25% complete. It's crazy.

So, tell me what your favorites are. I hope we all think differently about the different games in the series, otherwise it'd be boring to read the same thing over and over again.

I've played San Andreas the most, also it was the first GTA I've started with (Yes I was late to the party), GTA was fun but the cheat codes were lacking lol. I was really tired of putting in the get rid of stars cheat over and over again. :P

I guess I just try too hard sometimes and in the end I'm the one who's left, still broken.

I'd have to say GTA III, just because it was the first one I've ever played and actually finished 100%. I still never finished San Andreas ;~; it's sitting somewhere in my closet with my other PS2 stuff, Rotting away  ... lol

GTA 3 was the first one I've played. I don't really like it.

Plus, there's a 'lock wanted level' cheat for San Andreas. It keeps the cops off you permanently!

GTA III and it's mainly the difficulty that makes me believe that(perfect). Sure, there's a lack of things to do when compared to the other games in the series but the there's just things in that game that really get your attention.

I know I was talking about GTA 4, their codes for that sucked so bad, I didn't own the game for long.... Ended up switching for Saints Row 2 honestly.

I like GTA 3 because the style and the artwork. It's really cool looking to me.

But, that's the only reason why I like it. If I wanted to play in Liberty City I'd go on 4 lol

I'm surprised to say I liked GTA San Andreas the most. It was a bit of weird fun with the whole strange level up system along with the entire game-play of collecting areas and controlling them. Yeah, some of it didn't work but it was a great upgrade from what GTA III had given us.

I would prefer to never remember GTA 4. That game was stupid. I couldn't drive anywhere, the controls were so darn clunky. And the driving is usually a favorite part of my GTA experience and they literally tore that away from me....stupid game.

Bleh, I think that's the one thing I can't stand about GTA, no offense, but for me the cheat codes ruin the game, where's the fun if there's no thrill of running from the cops or building up to 5 stars to see if you can get away from the CIA and the army?

(Not sure if the CIA or army are still in the later games, pretty sure they were there in III haven't played it in years lol) Or risking losing all your weapons on a killing spree? I don't know about anyone else, but I just feel GTA is more fun without cheats.

You don't need to play the game with cheats, just pretend they're not there. I actually like them. I remember when many games from past experience used to have cheat codes as a way to experience it in a different way. Now you're lucky to find an easter egg or two in anything.

That is so true. Grand Theft Auto's the only game I will never play with out cheats. Plus, it seems like it's the only game now that has cheats in it now, otherwise all the cheat code stuff is retro. (Tony Hawk games probably still have cheats too lol)

Huh, nearly forgot about that game. But seriously, when was the last time they came out with a good game? I think Tony Hawk Underground was possibly the last time, and in fault the second one as well. That last game with the stupid skateboard peripheral was just stupid.

If they get rid of that shoddy car control steering, I may look into it myself. Until I see and hear otherwise, It's not on the list of need to own games for me.

I got rid of my 360 a long time ago, instead went and got PS3

I really enjoyed San Andreas when I was able to play it. All I have now is IV and I enjoy playing it, but the map IS really small and that gets on my nerves at times.

Really small? Gets on my nerves? You must be a much younger gamer than I. hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah it realy is funny : )

Well it's way smaller compared to San Andreas. It's a good size for being the type of game it is, though.

The driving is not that bad once you get used to it, you need skill to drive properly in that game.

Each game has it's pros and cons. I mean, I know whole Radio Los Santos by hearth, so I would say SA, but I also really like Euphoria engine and some of the one liners Niko has. :D

Edit: gta 2 has great atmosphere, but I would really need some sort of radar.

San Andreas is hands-down my favorite.

Anyone remember Zero's mission with the RC Baron that you have to shoot 5 couriers with? I hated that level so much...

More like gta on LSD. Nothing against LSD, tho. But, I mean, this game is crazy. And I also dislike the extreme character modding options-you can have godmode at the and and that just kills the gameplay for me :/

For me, SA without a doubt. Half of the time i spent playing it, i was running away from cops in a pimped car while listening to Radio-X.

"U'r listenin' to Radio-X, my name is Sage, and if you dont like it you can go f*** yourself" - i loled every time.

GTA: San Andreas - this is my fav because it felt more like an RPG with the ability to control CJ's fat and muscle tone as well as you hair, it was the biggestmap in all the games and there was nothing better then going though the desert on a BMX.

and last but not least Samuel L Jackson
