My guinea pig gave birth a week ago

It's a long story as to how.

In April I got two piggies, Mercury and Mars. Both were assumed to be female, and I got them from a very good breeder, but turns out it can be tough to determine the gender of very young pigs. (I also got them earlier than usual because both my old guinea pigs had recently passed away. I was very lonely and needed new piggie company) Thus it turned out Mercury was a boy, and got Mars pregnant before anyone realized. He's neutered now.

Mars gave birth on July 27. Two were lethals (all white with defective teeth) so had to be put down, which was rough but the best thing to do, but it isn't all sad. Mars is doing great, and the other two are also happy and healthy. They're going to be sold eventually because of a lack of room, but they'll be going to good homes. =3 For now the house has been calling them Trinket (which is the name of one of the cats... their fur is very similar) and Hershey.

I only brought this up now rather than earlier because I got a picture I took a few days ago on my computer just now. The posing was at the perfect moment:

Brushing your hair is for people who care and someone who cares is not I, I'll jump off a bridge and then fill up your fridge,
and best pony is Fluttershy.

Her face is still blushing and she is still eating the pasta.

They're so cute. I have two guinea pigs they're both male. I don't get why they are such an underrated pet I mean I didn't even know they existed two or three years ago.

I love my guinea pigs! They're so gentle and cute. They run around making these burpy popping noises and then purr at each other. And when you hand them some fresh bell pepper, they purr at it and nomnomnom.

Yours are adorable! It's funny how cavies pop out of their mom completely furred, and within an hour or two are walking around eating from a food bowl or drinking some water.

I had guinea pigs once with a "surprise birth" story as well. My family originally only had one guinea pig, Treazy, which we got for my sister's birthday. We had thought we bought her when it was said that she hadn't gone past her puberty yet, but 70 days later, which strangely coincided with the gestation period of guinea pigs, we had a new guinea pig in the house. Sas, as we called her, was perfectly healthy and lived for several years but sadly died before her mother (although Treazy followed soon afterward). Cute things, they were.

Awww! So cute.

But I guess they were smaller earlier?

They were just about as large as they are in the picture; maybe a weee bit smaller. Guinea pigs are interesting in that when they're born, they're just like normal guinea pigs with fur and all except they're smaller (obviously) and they need to feed off their mommy first.

Oh god they are so cute!!! I have 5 females :3 Ninja, Fluff, Junior, Osbourne and Nemi. It's easy to check the gender on piggies. Just look under their belly and check for 2 teats under all the fur.

I know it seems odd, but I used to have baby albino corn snakes, and they are quite adorable, and very low maintenance! And this isn't me, but they were this small when I got them!Posted Image

Felicitations! One can never have too many cute little balls of fluff. I always wanted guinea pigs or something similar when I was little but mom was always terrified of them.
