Are the mane 6 famous in Equestria?

Maybe not universally recognized, but they got some clout. I mean "Trade Ya" starts with Twilight being welcomed as a princess.

Apparently this topic has been revived. Funny how, since it was posted, three of the mane six have become celebrities in their own right. Twilight is a princess, Rarity is a popular fashion designer, and Rainbow Dash is a Wonderbolt. The other three? "Merely" national heroes, although it doesn't seem to be acknowledged nearly enough. I kinda hope we get some of this celebrity status acknowledged in future episodes.

You forgot Pinkie Pie saving Ponyville from Parasprite and Rarity "Turning" Spike back into normal size.

They should be treated like queens though

Based on their exploits in saving the world? My current pragmatic take is ... yes and no.

 

Twilight is recognized by less traveled ponies in Hoofields and McColts. That coupled with acknowledgement in other areas shows Twi is basically known throughout Equestria.

 

Rarity is now likely a known figure in both Canterlot (the last episode made a specific point of this), and at least known in various fashion and social circles in Manhattan.

 

While there is less evidence of Dash being well known outside of the Bolts, one can reasonably assume she is very much a known figure in Cloudsdale and as the Wonderbolts have some wider social exposer she would be more recognized that others.

 

AJ has been seen making deliveries, so she would even have a chance to be well known outside of Linville, however that is not directly tied to her part of the Equestria saving brigade. The only acknowledgement we have of her fame comes from her family.

 

Pinkie is likely in the same boat as AJ, but we do have a casual comment in Spice up your Life that she is actually known of by ponies who would not need her services.

 

I suspect Flutters is a non entity outside of her field. Except she had a brief moment as a flash in the pan model. She is probably the least recognized ... and I guarantee it wouldn't bug her in the least.

 

They are all likely seen as heroes in Equestria and especially in Ponyville, but more collectively than individually.

The ponies may have a certain celebrity status but I think they all keep it refreshingly real. Other ponies respect and regard the Mane 6 and their accomplishments in the proper context but don't necessary have the need to swarm them for autographs. Maybe it's just a different culture in Ponyville than it is in parts of the human world. 

Twilight often seems uncomfortable with her princessly status and doesn't flaunt it in a way that attracts attention.

Twilight gets her deserved fame and so the others in the mane 6 to various degrees. At least it isn't like skyrim where your the goddamn dragonborn and everyone treats you as some peasant commoner.

The mane 6 saved Equestria multiple times. Why aren't they praised as heroines? Everypony treats them like normal and not with proper respect I think. Let's look at some of their accomplishments. Mane 6: Saved Equestria from eternal night. Saved Equestria from Discord. Saved Canterlot from the Changlings. Twilight: Vanquished an Ersa Minor. Lured Cerberus away from Ponyville. Got her friends back from Discord's influence. Applejack: Saved Ponyville from stampedes.... can't remember more but I know there's a lot. Fluttershy: Convinced a DRAGON to leave Equestria. Pushed the Pegasus tornado over the hump. Rainbow Dash: Sonic Rainboom! Saved the wonderbolts and Rarity among a public crowd. I think you get the idea. Why aren't they celebrities? They have their own stain glass pane in Canterlot Castle!

Well, they turned around when Twilight became a princess, haha. Pretty sure deep down they know, they know.

 

Honestly though, an episode which revolves around, lets say, Applejack, who does all the heroic shtuff, walks around town, people thank her for what she does! (like a 'behind the scenes on an everyday life without any major events happening)
