What was the first thing you thought/said when you started up your first episode of my little pony?

It can be a hate filled comment, or not. What you thought is what you thought. My first thought was, "why the hell am I watching this shit?!"

Started the episode...hmmm...not so bad...but I'm not sure if I like it

"Hmm...Well, lets see what the powerpuff girl creator has done and see what I can learn. Nice colors, fluent animation. Nice change of camera shots, very visually pleasing. I like the lack of shadowing or darker details...its clears that it was made to cater to a younger audience"

"Very impressive, I've only just meet the characters for a few minutes each at best and I already feel like I know them to an extent. Truly this show has alot to teach me about writing. I like that the characters have very strong personalities to present at first too and each have a scene that best corresponds with those personalities This format is interesting and a good idea. Two episodes dedicated immediately to a villain. A villain with a serious threat without breaking the kid friendly rules of killing people...the format of having the first two episodes lined up like a movie too is really interesting as well!"

 

pretty much that and onwards from there on.

 

 

I'm an animation student...I saw clips of the show...I actually want to earn money and get out a job out of this. A good show is a good show, it dosen't matter what it is about.

Well after the episode was done (I was watching it on TV) my first reaction was; "I wonder what the afternoon episode is gonna be about...."

*At the Opening Music*"How in the hell did I go from chilling with my friend to getting talked into watching this episode with her? She's really good at persuasion it seems. Oh christ almighty on a pogo stick, why did I agree to this?"

 

*During Winter Wrap Up Song* "Oh dear god this song is catchy. Don't think about it. Don't think about it. Don't think about it."

 

*Either Spike's Line about the nest needing to be condemned or the snowman visual gag* "Okay that was actually funny."

 

*End of Episode* "Wow, that was better than I thought it would be. However I'm not gonna get hooked on this. I have better things to do with my time."

 

*4+ hours later when I am lying in bed* "Well, I have that one assignment I need to work on, but I think I can get it..." *Winter Wrap Up Suddenly starts playing in my head on a loop.* "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY IS THIS STUCK IN MY HEAD ALREADY?!"

 

*3 weeks later* "Okay fine, I'll start watching this series from Episode 1. I know it's a good quality show so this might be somewhat enjoyable."

"I told my friends I'd give My Little Pony a shot so that's what I'm doing. It has to be at least somewhat entertaining if people my age watch it."

I was browsing youtube and I think I ran into a MLP video of some form. I decided to take a look into the actually show after hearing a bit of talk about bronies and knowing some people via the internet who watched it.

I watched the first episode and I had to find out what happended in the next. Then i watched the third and then It finally caught up to me.

WAIT I"M WATCHING MLP?

AND ENJOYING IT?

And yeah now I've watched both seasons like 2-3 times now and currently rewatching again

In all seriousness and without Equestria Girls references,

 

Before I saw episode 1, I was thinking about how there could be a fanbase. I know the internet all too well, so there must be some reason why they like that show.

 

I used to watch anime a lot, so I got used to not turning down a show by it's cover, so I watched it.

 

Episode 1, not bad. Why not watch more? I'm tired of anime anyways.

Episode 2, aww, happy ending. I kind of feel good now.

Episode 3, This conflict is pretty well written, and could entertain any adult, and teach any kid. Not bad.

 

So I went on and on. I loved it. I felt happy. I watched videos. It changed me, and I'm a happier person in general.

Plus I got to see adorable Fluttershy and Sweetie Belle.

So my first impression was "not bad", because I didn't really have anything against it, and i don't feel guilty for watching a show aimed to little girls. I mean heck, I've seen yuri anime's and not felt guilty. I've watched horror anime's and not guilty. I was pretty immune to the emberassment or guilt.

I already new about bronies, I already knew about the phonomenom and fandom, and whatnot. So I wanted to see with my eyes what was so good about this show.

At the end of the first episode, I was normal, It was very entertaining but I wasn't hooked

I thought it was stupid so I left it at that and said. Yep this show is not for me and that is final. But then I kept watching clips which lead me to become curious so I watched more and more until I realized it.

One Month Later: Home alone... Nothing to do... *sigh* More brony stuff on the internet. Better give this another try.

things I thought I knew about the show before watching it:

-the people who watch it are probably mostly girls aged 13-16

-most of the people who watch it are probably in the furry/anime/fanime fandoms and like it for the animation

 

 

my initial reactions:

 

-when the intro with the story book showed up: "this is sort of similar to a lot of the fanime I watch, I can see why the fanime crowd is into this. this'll probably be decent"

 

-when the theme song came up: "eh, this is okay" *rainbowdash flies bye* "actually, this is better than okay"

 

-when twilight is being rude to the other ponies because she doesn't want to be social: "I can see where kids get their sass these days if this is what they're watching :l"

 

-when nightmare moon shows up: "ah, didn't foster's home start off with a big villain? I think it did"

 

-after the first episode: "pretty good /:"

 

-after the first ten episodes: "this is a good waste of time, I guess. animation is good"

 

-after episode 16 (there were only 16 episodes out at the time): "wah, I need more ponies D': gotta wait for them now :c"

When I watched my first episode (The Last Roundup) I swear I must'v told myself I was crazy about 60 times... My how wrong I was. I then realized it's a pretty awesome show.
