gaming GameStop to sell classic games (e.g. N64, PS1, Dreamcast)

Gamestop has terrible trade-in values anyway. They sell a game for 15-25 and could very well give you less than a dollar for it. I got screwed out of a lot of money because of it. I will never trade in to Gamestop ever again.

Hell, I don't even trade games in unless I'm absolutely desperate for new ones and don't have a job. Most of the time I keep everything because I ALWAYS wanna go back and play it at a later date.

This is cool but the oldest console I have is a Gamecube [My PS1 broke] Still though my PS3 can play PS1 games so maybe I can find Spyro or something as back then I never owned Crash or Spyro games. Well ok I played a demo for one of the Spyro games buts that's it.

HOLD IT, HOLD IT, HOLD IT!

Everyone's rejoicing, but remember; it's gamestop.

You know, those guys who give you 2 dollars for a game, and turn around and sell it for twenty dollars? Only someone who is out of their minds would trade in their classic games at GameStop.

Objection! Hold it! Take that! Gotcha! Eureka!

I like video games and anime.

My question is where will they get them from? (To my knowledge) They don't produce them anymore, so where will they get 'em? Sure, it's possible that people would sell them but there is definitely not enough to go around if you ask me.

I have mixed feelings about this. I'm glad to see that they want to sell older games again, but I'm worried they will be sold for ridiculous prices  I also wonder how far back they plan on going with the games. NES? SNES? Or just N64, PS1, ect.

Good thing I still have most of my old systems/games.

Not to mention emulators, which are far more convenient than having six systems hooked to one TV.

It's a nice option I suppose but knowing Gamestop, they'll probably inflate the prices. Plus, if I ever get the itch to buy classic games in store I already got somewhere to go.

Sadly, I'm enough of an geezer that I actually own most of the games I would want. The rest, I can get on emulator (I have the cartridges, I'm sure... somewhere).

I know what you mean. I myself, however, would rather buy games for the consoles instead of emulating games on the PC, becasue I fear that it's an illegal thing to do and that it'll run horribly whenever I play emulated games. :(

1. Not illegal if you own a copy (working or not) of both the system in question and the games in question. It's often used when discs break or get lost.

2. Every system from Atari 2600 to Dreamcast will run just fine.

It's not illegal, the FPS on systems up to PS1 is untouched (The only thing on PS1 that made me lag was casting Ultima in FFVIII, but that is incredibly CPU intensive for its time). Once you start dipping into PS2 territory, you'd need a powerful as hell comp. I can't even play We Love Katamari on it past 5m without unbelievable lag.

Besides, ROM hacks are pretty much emulator exclusive. Stuff like Ponymon or Pony Fantasy VI.

....I'm on the fence about this one.

For one thing, I'm a long-time gamer, and I love revisiting old titles on old consoles. This move is definitely bound to be popular for those of us looking for a few blast-from-the-past nostalgic games. On the other hand, no one knows how to ruin a good thing quite like GameStop, and I don't doubt that they'll find a way to disenfranchise me with the idea before too long. Most likely, that'll come in a "necessary" change in policy regarding all their classic titles. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png

I've got an idea! No..... No, wait; it's just a concussion....

... I hate my local Gamestop now. I look online and I see a few titles up for grabs, but hardly any of the ones that I want, really. Like Pikmin 1 and 2 are both out, I think... :(

The Wii versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 should be pretty easy to find, they're still in print unlike the originals. I have that version of 2 and love it. ;)

I don't have a Wii. :( I sold it because I didn't like enough Wii games that were out at the time (I still really don't like many) and got a PS3 for it with the money between the system and games added up. Now I don't even play that. :(

Oh, well it's definitely the best way to currently obtain the two Pikmin games, and I'd say the improved controls(you can zoom the camera out farther and throw your Pikmin much longer distances than before, and much more precisely once you're used to it) are worth the investment if you can get another Wii and the games, they are really good.

I just talked to the guys at my local Gamestop and they said the manager came back from a conference and said that was NOT happening. I'm thinking the rumor was started to hype people up and bring them down.

They said that for one thing: No Gamestop would have the room for it, they have to have room for all the games they already DO have.
