how much would you pay for this?

Me and my friend are thinking of starting commissions on DA, then donating our money to charity, I'll do written and he'll do art.

This is his artwork:

And this is one of my best fan-fictions. http://thebiganimation.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d53akh5

I will write My Little Pony fan-fictions though, this fan-fic is for Keroro Gunsou

I'm thinking for the art, 5-6 dollars, and for the fan-fic, 1-3 dollars.

Hmm don't take this the wrong way, but you're not quite good enough yet to demand money for your art:

-the lines vary in strength a lot

-the outlines are black, instead of a darker hue of what they outline

-the edges of the iris highlights should be clearly defined

-the strap looks way too thin and should extend farther beyond the body

ect.

Also, this is the wrong forum for posting this.

I feel like while charging money for art is pretty common, I've never heard of charging money for a fanfic before.

Still though, the art seems pretty legit. If that was my OC (and i had money ): ) I'd pay 5 bucks for it.

charging for a fanfic? now that's an interesting concept..

well the picture is really not bad but i don't think its at the 5-6 dollar level yet, probably 3-4 dollars, 5 at most.

Signature to come soon. I think. Yeah. Once I think up a nice one. Or when someone makes one for me. Damn it. I need more time to draw and animate poni. >_<

I don't want to come off as a jerk, but your friend might wanna work on getting a little better before considering commissions. Let me say this in an MMORPG sort of way. It'd be like trying to sell level 5 weapons in a level 40 zone. It's just not going to be easy, and you're not going to have many customers. (Commissions on their on are a horrible source of income, most artists only do them when they really need money or have plenty of spare time.)

Also, never heard of a person commissioning for a fan-fic before. . . .

I'm a cheap bastard, so I wouldn't pay for art unless it's something completly amazing, which this sadly isn't. It is good, I'm just looking for something even better.

i concur with this. (and the idea of charging for a fanfiction is quite interesting.)

i have to disagree with some of silverwisp's comments however.

  • You want your lines to vary in strength. the weight of the line helps to lead the eye around and can also help with shading. that he has a subtle understanding of this shows a good eye in art, albeit still underdeveloped. some of the lines are unnaturally thin compared to the rest of the piece though, and some heavy lines show up in places that dont make natural sense. usually the thick lines are opposite the light source. I.E: under the chin, bottom of feet etc.
  • black lines are a stylistic choice. lots of comics use them, though they are often dubbed as amateurish.
  • no outline for the eyes is also stylistic choice. i see no problem with this as long as theres enough contrast in colours.
  • i agree the body strap seems too thin, and doesnt appear to go around the backside of the body. simple correction with follow through/fold lines.
  • i am unsure if this is the wrong place for this post or not. i dont visit forums often and cant say.
