People Dropping Out Of The Fandom?

Azura

Recommended Posts

Though I do not keep track or anything, I don't believe there has been an increase in speed of people leaving the forum, but simply coincidentally a lot of the users leaving are just well-known, and create a larger impact. We have 6,800 users registered, but I know I don't see that many posting on the forums 24/7. This is, of course, just the forum.

The fandom itself is similar, just on a larger scale. People who have been well known are simply the ones leaving these days.

People have always been leaving, but new people join all the time as well.

This was kind of expected to happen, considering the gap between seasons, but it's nothing to get worried about.

Our fandom is still quite large, and I'm sure it will begin to grow again when season 3 comes out.

People come, and people go, this is how any group works (especially fandoms) My guess is that when the new season starts, some of the more inactive members of the fandom will come out of their shells.

That is a part of the fandom. People come and people go.

Also, people will always leave when one of the seasons is over, its normal since there never is anything new.

When season 3 starts the old fans will probably come back and the brony community can grow once more.

People will leave, and new people will replace them, its how it goes.

As Vicke said, when season3 airs there will be a huge spike in the brony population, then it will eventually die down again just in time for season 4 and the whole cycle will repeat its self, for as long as mlp is air'd.

Some Bronies will defect and leave Equestria for good, but that most certainly means that the fanbase itself is dying.

I'm pretty sure Trekkies and Star Wars' fanbase have seen many people come and go, and they're still around after many decades.

I don't think we have anything to worry about. Some people are a less active because it's still the off season. As for people leaving the forums, we all miss those members like Shankveld, but that kind of thing happens when we're hit by that devistating thing called real life. :(

As stated above me I'd bet my bits that once season 3 starts we would see an influx of bronies join the herd.

But still it's sad to see people go.

The term instant gratification comes to mind for this kind of topic. Though I just started going on these forums and talking to people of the fandom and becoming a brony myself around the off-season. Others except more, they except content to be created and since the product won't be coming until next month (and it's been may so it's been about five month gap.). When there is a long time gap, they find other products to show interest too. To see what can gratify their sensory with good product (i.e. Gravity Falls, etc. ) and slowly dwindle out and look for something else. Instant Gratification.

Dropping out of the fandom might just be temporary for all you know and when season 3 comes back, people will be returning to being bronies/pegasisters or whatever you want to call yourself. Other people will start seeing the show as well. The fandom won't be dying anytime soon.

I joined the fandom a year ago and people have been complaining about things since then, they're just blowing of steam at random to keep from attacking the people they don't like directly.

The recent departures of some forum users is simply an illusion. I still think they are attached to the show still, but are just taking a break for personal reasons. Just browsing ponies all day is awesome, but you have to consider doing it ALL THE TIME?! It just gets boring after some time. Like some previous people said, "They come and go."

I've heard news that people are rapidly leaving the pony fandom everyday.

Could somepony please tell me if it's true or false?

In some cases, it's true. (In fact, I feel like leaving...)

It's all down to the inactivity of new episodes and the personal preferences of each individual. If someone hasn't seen the show in a while and wasn't exactly fully hooked to begin with, then they might drop out...

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

This is an automatically generated message, by the way.

People are going to get bored, it's inevitable. Not to mention that we haven't had any new episodes since April, and it has definitely been a loooooong time since then, people are gonna and have gotten impatient and left.

Well it is most definitely true as I had a friend, and she dropped out, but not because of no episodes or whatever, but because of the fandom itself, because of the bronies who post ponies everywhere.

Meh, I'd never leave the fandom. It's great.

If you see me around, feel free to say hey!

As said before, people come and people go, as it is with any community. Were in a dry season as of now, but I can easily say this will be one of the biggest surges since the season 2 kickoff...

Everyone is claiming they're leaving simply because they're dead bored for the sheer lack of new episodes. When season 3 comes up, they will get back and act like they never leave at all :P

I, however am on and off. I switch between fandoms every now and then or find something new while i wait

As a Fan... I stay true to what I do in a fandom. Even though I stay away from it for a while (Like watching more episodes of naruto shippuden... Although after watching 235 episodes... I rather read the manga more XD but fillers flesh out the support characters and others more which is good but sometimes its dull XD) Being a fan of anime and all... I like bleach only because of the battles and the epic sword releases and such like Ulquierrel (Sorry if I spelled wrong) and some of the characters. I love naruto's storyline, Characters, humour, and overall lore truly a master piece because I can relate to so many of the characters. So I am a fan even though I dislike certain things about it. I know Im going a bit off topic but Im giving great examples

I was into both the Furry(I just like the art now) and Sonic fandoms in Highschool, so it would take a amount of drama not yet conceived by the human race to run me out of bronyness.

It is unfortunate that people have been leaving, but they have gone to roam other pastures, and we will keep gaining more people. I am glad to be on here and be part of this community and although people are leaving, I am just glad that we have the people who are still here. Unforetunatly this is happening rapidly (or appears to be doing so) but it is inevitable for most communitys or populations to experience some changes and fluxations. So don't be super upset, it is allright to be dissapointed and sad but It is not the end of the world.

People leave fandoms, groups, sites, everything all the time, but at the same time new people join.

The people who are leaving just happen to be alot of longer time memebers so that makes a larger impact on us. However we can't forget new people are joining everday.

And its also due to the gap we have while waiting for S3 once that comes out I have a feeling the fandom population will probably spike up atleast a bit. And then when the season ends begin to go back to how it is now until the new season comes out or if it doesn't it'll probably stay this way for a while then eventually start to decline faster.

I don't know if the fandom will truly fully disappear until a bunch of people just start dieing... Or maybe the people of these generations will pass it on to their children and then the fandom will live even longer O_o.?
