How open are you about ponies?

Probably around the Twilight level, I was a big fan of PowerPuffGirls. (I watch reruns on Boomerang!) The episodes have good quality in them, not a surprise coming from Lauren Faust. Though I wouldn't explain my passion for the show to my friends, that's just asking for trouble.

I typically don't believe my group of friends would understand the whole situation or be very accepting, since the show kinda contrasts with my personality. Heck Im still getting used to it. Not much into merch or clothing, but that maybe because I just discovered that I enjoy the show a week ago. I mention random MLP quotes or references to the show with them having no idea what Im talking about (which is kinda self entertaining) and showed them derpy as a random internet meme without expressing emphasis on the show, but it would be nice to think that I wouldn’t be judged based upon liking a show that demonstrates how people can use friendship as a means to become more accepting.

i can totally aggree with you, although if you do talk about it and tell people you like it you will be suprised how many people watch it but dont want to be judged and if they arent into it you can at least know you made an effert to spread the love and tolerance.

Yeah I mean Ive considered it, and I have seen how much people do enjoy it, but I have a feeling that the effort wouldn't be worth the results, Im discovering that its kind of a reason that I turned to the show, because it helps exclude the fear of intolerance within the real world.

Very understandable :) one of the big reasons i got into the show was the tolerance thing also.

I was trying to explain my desktop to this 65 year old guy who came into the office. Eventually I had just to say "Its magic ponies" and leave it that. He thought I was nuts!

Funny you should say that, because when I first watched the show it really conflicted with my personality. Not only that, but (at risk of sounding overly dramatic) I feel as though it has, in the months following my introduction, inspired a fair bit of change in my attitude and outlook on life...

I find myself not being as outwardly negative and cynical as I once was. Granted, I'm still a snarky pessimist, but not nearly to the same degree that I used to be.

Dang dude, that’s exactly the same scenario I had! When I first started to really enjoy the show I questioned myself about how I could enjoy something that starkly contrasted with my personality. Also it has changed the way I act, Quoting from my intro: I suddenly had the urge to stop cussing, stop denying or considering making white lies about anything, stop making judgmental decisions, and pretty much avoid any argument or dismiss any negative confrontation with anyone that had come along, which isn’t completely like me normally. It definitely has helped me move in a more positive direction. Edited by 83awsm

I'm really stuck in an awkward situation.

My parents and siblings know I watch the show and some of my siblings show interest in it but for some reason I just don't want to share it with them, I avoid watching it around them even if I know they would sit and watch it with me. It's like I want to be alone when it comes to ponies and I'm willing to block everyone out. O.o

What should I do?

I find myself at a mix between Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy.

I REALLY like the show, and anxiously await the next episode, though I don't talk about it to a lot of my friends... Unless I have known them for quite a while

Weird, because even though my family doesn't really know about the show, I feel the same way. Before I discovered this forum I felt kinda secluded about the whole MLP thing and became a little anti-social. Personally Id find it kinda awkward to watch it with my family, or friends that I’ve known for a long time outside of MLP, so you’re not alone.

Glad I'm not alone on this :)

I just can't get myself to watch it with anyone else, something just feels wrong about it

Well, the show is titled My Little Pony, not Our Little Pony ;) I make myself giggle.

I think this is normal. It's actually a bit how I feel about bronies sometimes since MLP has felt like my franchise since I was 2-3. I'm like, yes it's okay that you acknowledge that it's cool and admit that it is awesome but this is in fact mine. Don't get too attached to it, at the end of the day all things MLP go home with StarGazer. I've been doing pony art, dressing up, collecting ponies and involved in something pony for most of my life so this FIM fandom hit me like an 18 wheeler and almost feels like too many people smashed into my room. But I do feel that bronies in general, even though they don't always share my G1 love, are great people that I'm glad to share my room with (this is supposed to be a metaphor. Please do not come share my room).

I don't always want to share stuff I love with people. It's like it's my show. If too many people glom on to it, it won't be special any more. It's mine, my own, my precious.

I'm probably a little too open about it myself. I love talking about it, so sometimes I find myself in some obscure way, skewing the conversation towards ponies. I really should stop, it isn't like ponies are my life (Well, maybe...).

Everyone in my house and my neighbor hood knows I make pony Art.

Honestly it's been one big thing to the next as far as they are concerned

When i was 10 I was build weapons and tree houses

when i was 13 i was building weapons and Making Things

When I was 15 I was Building and collecting weapons and going out at 3 AM to do what ever

Now I'm 18 and I build and collect weapons and I do what ever I want.

Feels good.

I sometimes go around with a big thing of chalk and draw ponies and the neighborhood kids love them.
