Related, I picked this movie up today at K-Mart, I'm happy to finally have it on DVD. I only had an old VHS copy until now. It only cost me $5.

These two have bad reviews so I'm not sure how scary it is for others:

The New Daughter (2009)

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (2010) but it got a bit comical at times.

And Paranormal Activity 1 - I would say that's the most 'realistic' or believable telling of ghosts so it was scary because of that. I haven't really seen many horror movies :P

I'm usually down with the whole "psychological" horror rather than just standard "hack 'n slash" and "gore" movies. Something that has a bit of backstory and character development in it.

Some of my favorites are The Exorcist, The Omen, The Blair Witch Project, The Sixth Sense, and the classic Wicker Man.

Ju-On the Curse and Ju-On the Grudge. My personal favourites :D

I LOVED Dark Water and One Missed Call. Also I quite enjoyed A Slit Mouthed Woman.

Re posting: This is a thread I created before but got deleted because it was a copy of another thread. Being re-made because it is not. The other thread was scariest films and this is favorite horror films. As far as i'm concerned; not all horror is even scary. Some horror is actually made to be more comedic than anything.

What is everpony's favorite horror movie. I'm a huge horror fan; I would love to see who else is a fan of them and what your favorite is.

Mine? Halloween (1978)

My favourite horror movie would have to be Shaun of the Dead. It's a perfect example that horror and comedy can co-exist without messing up the film.

I came here to mention that one as well. To me, it is the best zombie movie out there.

But when it comes to horror for the sake of horror, I usually mock it, I can't help it. And that is why no one wants to watch them with me because I screw up the feeling the movie is trying to set.

But I do get jump scares sometimes, just not when I can tell when they are going to happen, which is more often then I like.

But if there are any horro movies y'all feel are really good, suggest em to me please, I want to see it can be done ina way that entertains me. (Other than comedy)

Oh wow, I lost all my epic posts.

*Takes a puff on pipe*

Most dissatisfying.

Oh well, my favorite horror film is John Carpenter's The Thing. Because it's awesome. Best scene is still the test scene- No, every scene is best scene.

And Halloween is a very good choice, staples!

Shaun of the Dead is a very good one as well, TBMF. I love that movie, as well as Hot Fuzz, although that one's certainly not a horror movie. They go hand in hand in my mind, really.

I am having trouble thinking of a favorite that is not a parody to at least some degree.  I really liked "Cabin in the Woods," and all of the "Scream" movies.  And of course "Shaun of the Dead" has already been mentioned.

I like the Scary Movie series.  I love those kind of movies, they're hilarious.  I still haven't seen A Haunted House and believe me I REALLY need to see that.  I know I'd just fall in love with it!

My favorite is The Grudge trilogy.  It is really awesome.  It has the perfect mixture of suspense, gore, and fear intent.  The storyline is good and doesn't leave much out.  I personally prefer the Korean versions better than the English ones.  They are just cooler i guesstongue.png.  I also really like the Final Destination Movies.  They are very well made, suspenseful, and gore filled movies that get your blood pumping.  The fifth Final Destination is the best though.  The character profiles and the details in the story are just better than the other ones.  The others are still really good though.  The scariest movie ever is The Ring.  The worst part about it is that at the end it makes you the next victim when it comes towards the screen at the end.  So your sitting there thinking that it's after you.  Anyways that's all I got for now.  I will try to reply to this topic more in the future.  Until then I have put the trailers for some of the movies above in a spoiler below.  I'm just happy that my spoilers are working again.

It's a really REALLY close tie between the Final Destination series and The Ring. I find FD...slightly cheesier than The Ring, but still in my book somewhere. The Ring because who DOESN'T love watching creepy girls with overgrown hair crawling out of TVs to murder people. ;3

My favorite horror movie is definetly The Shining.  In fact, it's my favorite live action film.  I love the mood and camerawork and pacing, it's just so involving.

I also like The Blair Witch Project, The Sixth Sense, and The Ring.

Definitely Zombieland. Technically, it's a black comedy, but I feel like it partially falls under the Horror genre. It's funny, and it has all the joys if a zombie movie.

That, and probably Saw.

Have you tried foreign movies? Like movies from Japan, China or Korea. Some of those movies are really twisted and actually kind of scary. I get it; not being scared and all, not many movies scare me too, but trust me on this one.

I heard that they might make a TV show out of zombieland. I read it somewhere on reddit. Link here if you're interested. http://screenrant.com/zombieland-tv-series-fox-sandy-136836/

The funny thing is, even though movies don;t scare me, I used to be to a worse degree, and still am, VERY afraid of Video game content. Such as I was afraid of the giant metal Bugs in Spyro, and was afraid of anything out of the ordinary happening in the Sims. And don't even get me started with actual horro games, most are impossible for me because I can;t handle it.

I shall follow your advice on the foreign movies.

Everybody is saying The Ring. That movie is scary and really good so I don't blame you xD I agree the 5th FD is the best. I have so many random fears from that movie.Such as being behind a log truck.

The log truck is like the best part.  The way it just smashes straight through the windshield.  I also really like the part with the elevator.  So much gore, I love this.
