I love EPIC orchestral music, but I dont listen to it all the time.Because it gets on my nerves.I like to listen to orchestral music when I'm playing a really big, intense battle online.Which makes the match more fun.

Considering the fact I am a musician in the band for my school(I play trumpet) I have a bit of an understanding and deeper appriciation for orchestral music. Plus its plain epic, I don't think the music in trailers gets enough credit. Or even in movies, games, any media really!

The music sets the atmosphere gives you that chill, or makes that fearful moment more fearful, that victorious moment, all the more victorious, that joyous moment, all the more joyful, and that heartbreaking moment, tear your heart to pieces.

Epic orchestral music from any form of media is totally underrated. I listen to it sometimes on the side, even if its not my favorite genre.

Music is just such an amazing thing I think, it can make you feel totally different and its a hard feeling to explain! But it can do so much! Its a wonderful thing you can say so much with music, and yet say nothing. And playing music is also very satisfying and wondrous.( but thats another subject :P)

So yeah Orchestral music is pretty epic :) And pretty underrated to.

(Without going too far in the off topic direction, i'll make it short.)

It didn't necessarily fail, it was just lacking content because of the start of a new console (3DS) and the end of a console (Wii). The details for the new games just weren't there, with the exception of Skyward Sword and a few big 3DS highlights. ( Kid Icarus: Uprising, Super Mario 3D Land, etc)

Even though they didn't show much for the Wii U (known as Project Café back then), they knew Skyward Sword (along with the 3DS games) would make their E3 conference successful. The orchestral montage was a great way to promote their upcoming big release. (Along with the OoT remake, the anniversary edition of Four Sword for free and the eshop release of Link's Awakening DX)  . I think many appreciated it.

While this wasn't my favorite E3, it was far from failure in my opinion.

when I said lacking content, I meant lack of games. If you recall, they showed the same 3DS games the showed in the 2010 E3 but with more cutscenes. They didn't show anything new.

To me they used the Zelda Anniversary as an excuse to make more time in their presentation routine. And the WiiU was such a tease back then, they showed a lot of stuff about the wiiU but it coundn't be playable at the nintendo booth, and this guy Iwata rushed to announce the new Smash Bros when the team behind the development didn't even know about the upcoming smash, you just don't do that! I have to admit though, I got teary eyed and screamed about the new Smash (it's my favorite game), I think I even had a headache out of the emotion XD.

YES I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS. I WANT MY GOLDEN STAR, AND/OR COOKIE.

Ahem.. On a serious note. This thread actually kinda reminded me of some of the things one of my bandmate's made a writing about which was shared with us, I took some of those thoughts from her, but I do agree with them atleast.

I felt like I had to comment on this though, after being reminded about this :P.

Music is really pretty awesome though, so many words, and yet you don't actually say a word, not to mention all them feels :D.

Omg you guys, Joe Hisaishi has some of the prettiest songs in the Studio Ghibli films! Some of my favorite music comes from Spirited Away. The feels that come with this song..... It takes me to my childhood, and it's not terribly "epic" until the end, but it is gorgeous and swells you along like your riding a gentle breeze and then at the end it picks up fantastically! Like I said, it's not so much "epic" as it is gorgeous! biggrin.png

Dead Space 2's Lacrimosa is an amazing piece to be reckoned with, no doubt. A favorite of mine.

Also, anyone ever hear some of Metallica's S&M album? Metal mixed in with orchestra, it's pretty awesome.
