duidamasterXD 9,627 December 2, 2012 Share December 2, 2012 True, but Trixie didn't know that. She had left when snips and snails admitted to luring the Ursa Minor in. From her point of view, she felt like she had justification as she thought Twilight had released it...Bronies: We over think too much!!!(would put an emoticon in but I am on my phone so this face will do for now: ). Um, Snips and Snails not only admitted directly to Trixie that they brought the Ursa, but Trixie jumped out of the carriage a matter of seconds before the Ursa crushed it. It was pretty darn obvious what happened to it.
Emerald Flame 381 December 2, 2012 Share December 2, 2012 She should be locked up, if only because that will likely only increase her feelings of anger towards Twilight, causing her to do something similar to this when released. Maybe she can team up with some past minor villains, like Gilda and/or the Diamond Dogs, and destroy Ponyville during the finale or something. I like evil characters, okay? I don't like seeing Trixie, who I think has potential as a villain, apparently feeling sorry about this. Hopefully, she was deceiving Twilight, or at least, she'll fall into her old ways later. This. Trixie's apology was the only bad part in an otherwise great episode. I like Trixie as an antagonist. Spiteful, jealous, and out for revenge is how she should have stayed.
Whofch 128 December 2, 2012 Share December 2, 2012 Not sure if I 'forgive' her but for some strange reason I do actually find myself liking her now. She didn't really do anything evil in her first appearance, just had a crappy attitude. In this ep, the only thing she really did wrong was get the pendant, which I'm assuming she just wanted to show twilight up with, rather than go bat sh*t crazy. So yeah, I think I could actually. 1 We were meant to rule together, little sister......

I'm sort of the type of guy who forgives quite easily, but I can pretty much see your point (and I like Trixie... keep it a secret...) ColourShine 67 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 I love Trixy's design and her character, she wasn't all that likeable but her appearance in this season has made her more popular. The fact she made the effort to apologise rather than maintain her pride was evidence that she might be changing, but rather than leaving the past in the past she let it get to her and sought a way to humiliate Twilight. Revenge is NOT an answer. Even then, she did not solely punish twilight alone, but Snips, Snails and other ponies who were simply on the sidelines of the previous confrontation. Although it was brave of her to aid Twi and apologise to her face - it wouldn't be enough. Trixy abused other ponies with the powers she gained to abuse Twilight. She should be forgiven, but face the consequences of her actions behind bars first.
Mephala 2,633 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 (edited) Your poll is heavily biased. Yes, I do forgive Trixie, because she's one of my favourite characters, despite her few appearances. In addition, the amulet was controlling her, so she had little control over herself. And she was at least semi-humble at the end of the episode. She just caused a little havoc-it's not like she murdered anyone. :/ Edited December 3, 2012 by PinkieDaShy
Starswirl the Trixie 975 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 (edited) @@Silverhoof I propose that the OP add a new option: Did she really do anything wrong? I don't study law, but I do know a bit, which I will put to use here. From a true legal perspective, it's debatable whether Trixie did anything wrong. It comes down to whether we consider putting on the amulet to be grounds for mens rea (google it if you don't know what it means). I imagine that the court, if it were put on trial, would subject the case to the "reasonable person" test. Basically, would a reasonable person make the mistake to think that putting on the amulet is safe and does not cause any psychological effects? But since this involves magic, I feel that, as humans, we cannot possibly imagine what is "reasonable" or not. There was, however, one very clear crime committed in the Trixie episodes: The theft of Trixie's belongings by the Mane 6/S&S at the end of "Boast Busters". They seem to have made no effort to return her belongings, and considering that Trixie wasn't very far from town at the time, I do believe that the defense of "She didn't come back." cannot be used. Moreover, Twilight's orders to S&S ("Clean up this mess", pointing at Trixie's carriage) imply that they basically tossed it in a garbage heap immediately after she left. So my verdict: *It is possible that Trixie committed a crime, it comes down to how much she should have understood the psychological risk of putting on the amulet. *The Mane 6 did commit a crime in "Boast Busters" by either vandalizing Trixie's possession or stealing them. They escaped prosecution only because of their seeming legal immunity as the EoH. _____ So please, OP, make the poll less biased. Batbrony 16,051 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 (edited) I do forgive her (albeit, just barely, considering all of the suffering she caused in Ponyville), because I don't really doubt the sincerity of her apology at all; my only problem with her apology was simply how quick, random, and out of character it seemed, but that's mostly an issue with the writing itself. Like I said, overall, I don't doubt her sincerity, and I think she does deserve a chance to redeem herself. Besides, she's harmless without that amulet. Likewise Trixie CHOSE to put the amulet on, with no thought for the consequences...only revenge. The poll stands. Ironicly, I was considering using drunk driving as an example in my post. Courts have ruled (in the US) that a person who drives drunk and hits someone still has mens rea, as they were guilty in ingesting the alcohol. The courts used the "reasonable person" test: What would a reasonable person think? It was decided that ingesting alcohol, by general knowledge, causes psychological impairment and thus the driver is held responsible. But courts also hold that, for instance, if a person's non-alcoholic beverage is spiked without their knowledge, the person is not responsible for damage if they are then unable to control themselves. A reasonable person would not think that drinking the beverage would have serious effects, so the person is not responsible. Trixie's case rests on how much she could have known the risk of psychological effects from the amulet. As we aren't ponies, we don't know what is reasonable in Equestria. So, again, I conclude that her case is difficult. She certainly, before using thr amulet, wanted to duel Twilight, but that's not a crime. Besides, does Equestria even have criminal law? The current option says that you feel she violated the law, when that's not necessarily true at all. Regardless of what you feel, a sizable number of people feel that Trixie did not violate the law, and thus there are not options in the poll to accommodate them. I propose that this error in your statistical methodology be alleviated by the inclusion of a third response. New option, please. Snow Shadow 41 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 This tale is tragic. From the bullying of Trixie, to the her inevitable subjugation of Ponyville, it is all ponies who share the blame. I think she should be forgiven. This amulet is a disgusting revelation into Pony nature. It should be sealed away or, if possible, annihilated. I think that she will still be doomed to never find redemption. She has given up on revenge, and is a better person. This will not matter. She will be ostracized. The cycle of torment is violent, and can only end in aid or death. If she is not aided by one of noble character demise of one is imminent. This one could be her or another. Oh what cruel fate does Ponykind inflict upon itself. Let there please be salvation for her. 2 From bitterness I arise. I shall thrive in the cool darkness of this moonlit winter's night. Oh how far I have arisen to meet you my friends.

Azura 1,107 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 Of course she should. For one, the amulet was corrupting her thoughts. Also isn't Equestria all about being kind and forgivness and stuff? If she does it again though then OFF WITH HER HEAD. Also, where was Celestia that entire episode? A crazed, revenge seeking unicorn with a powerful amulet is rampaging through Ponyville and why didn't she do anything? You weren't paying attention were you.. She was far away from Ponyville, and the only way she can contact her was with Spike but she was trapped out of Ponyville. Anyway, I forgive Trixie. Zygen 6,066 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 Eh idk, kinda and kinda not. That one was point in the episode that kinda bothered me, but part of me it didn't and it felt just right? Its hard to explain, I mean she did break the law and all, but she did ask for forgiveness and she wasn't really in control while wearing the amulet. She was fed up of being mocked after the fact got mad and spent all kinds of money on the amulet to buy it and get revenge, but then she lost control. She probably never intended to do as much as she ended up doing. So I guess I'd have to forgive her, sure shes still going to be full of herself, but thats part of her character. Atleast she has good in her. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! My Oc's, Ponysona, Bella Vocal Covers Blog, MLP Covers Thread
SongBrony 419 December 3, 2012 Share December 3, 2012 The poll is kind of unfair. Equestrian law and human law are different. Remember, she was corrupted. I didn't like her at first, but after this episode I love her because she asked for forgiveness. She's a great character who I do see returning again, but probably not as an antagonist. Maybe a future protagonist who helps the mane 6 in a premier/finale. But I forgive her. Again, the poll is very biased
