share epic music!

Amelia Monocle

we're not discussing the usual music on the charts, we're not referring to "epic" with amplification, this infact is the pure concentrated essence of "epic"... music which can move people to deep emotions, music you can feel pulsing through you into your very soul... music that can cause fantastical and extravagant images in your mind! come forth and share your epic music with me... if you wanna...

Ooh, I like this topic. The world is full of epic music, and one of the best places to find it is video games! Seriously, it's like the majority of good composers has fled to game industry, I cannot otherwise explain this heaven for ears we have today. What makes it better is that usually that music has context displayed on screen.

Nearly every piece envokes at least one emotion. Especially when it makes you feel bigger than you really are. Epic!

At least I think that's what epic is.

This melody from Sonic Colors is simple, but it gets the job done, especially if you know what's going on:

Starcraft 2's main theme. There's hardly anything more colorful than this. It hypes you for battle, it calms you down, it reminds you of your past glory in Starcraft 1, it's just incredible. Shame it's never played in the game itself. Why, Blizzard, why!

Levitated Ruin literally makes me feel less weighty. It's beautiful how you can fit an electric guitar, piano and strings, all in one song, and still make it work. It's not epic per say, but it is adventurous.

And there are many more!

yes! this truly is epic! especially the first one, i always thought epic composers fled to the film making industry, but i see there are the fair share in games too!

This is epic. I had chills when this song popped up in the last episode of The Walking Dead game. Lee is probably the most badass character that I have seen in gaming.

oooh it's very smooth for an epic song, but i think it just about gets there... its got all the right chords and feels ... especially with the occasional thud and additional instrument, i can imagine that it would be totally epic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYCGbjOCYPo That is bucking epic, this song is the definition of epic. I dont know what more to say about this song,i mean you cant go wrong with two steps from hell.

YES. a whole load of the epic music i've heard is from two steps from hell!! was ocean princess from that? either way i agree, you just can't go wrong XD

Here's one of my favourite epic pieces of music. It absolutely cranks up the atmosphere in the game it's in. It just has that feeling of "All or nothing in a massively dangerous facility."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbeGa4OXXD4

it needs to be longer! epic pieces of music just aren't long enough... it's only three minutes :P i want more! XD its too good to be short!

Just like Flipturn I like the music of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I couldn't pick just one song since I like the entire soundtrack so here is an extended RMX of the many amazing songs from Deus Ex:

I'll always remember this game.

I've been listening to the FLAC version of this song almost this entire morning so far. I love the fast-paced beat of this song, especially after 3:30.

Speaking of Starcraft, my favorite race to play has always been Terran, and I thought they had the best music in the first game. Check out this metal remix of my favorite Terran track:

And if you've never watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, you should. For the soundtrack if nothing else. This is my favorite piece from the movie and my life's unofficial theme song:

Firstly, I'll jump on the Deus Ex bandwagon with this piece:

Just amazing, I can't explain why, it gets me really psyched though.

Then there's this absolute gem of a song from Total War: Shogun 2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq9MKVwh9sg

This is brilliant, the way it combines traditional Japanese instruments with a military theme relates to Japan's transformation from traditional to modern and in my opinion is a really inspiring piece that makes me want to take the fight to the enemy as soon as possible.

"Humanity is the end; knowledge is the means; I will not rest until there are no more secrets to be discovered; I will not rest until there are no more ways to improve; I will not rest until there are no more problems to be solved; I will wield no weapon but my wits and intellect; With these weapons I will battle ignorance until the light of knowledge shines bright; When the light of knowledge shines upon us all, then I shall rest, and not before." - Atmomancer Creed

Since the letter minimum won't just let me post a video I'm just going to type this totally useless sentence. Just a few more letters...

This song is from the Queen album Innuendo. This song is so awesome it has a good tone to it and I really like the music video. This was Freddie Mercury's last album with queen and if you ask me I think he went out with a bang

Epic music? Well I know one at least.

Exceed the verge of death from Ginga Densetsu Weed.

Just the name itself screams out "epic" loudly and tge music itself is just something. Most music in that anime are actually quite epic, but this stands out the most.

While everyone else posts their orchestral-based music...

This is the only song to really get a reaction that fits the criteria Amelia is looking for - to me, it's slow, moving, and with a very nice wall-of-sound production style, amazingly heartfelt. The best part about it is the vocals (which I expect people to detest and immediately claw their ears out after) because despite the screaming, it's one of, it not the only, instance that really describes Townsend putting his heart and soul into a vocal performance.

Snip.

Evidently I am waaay outta the loop, cuz I thought you couldn't come on anymore. Wat.

Anyways, here's mine-be warned that it's pretty much all indie rock. I'll make one for metal at some point.

Stalemate by Enter Shikari (very moving lyrics and a good song besides those)

Yeah Yeah by Willy Moon (not my favourite song by him, but since people blow his other music off as hipster tripe here you go. It will induce wild dancing and bad lipsyncing)

Gently Gently by Christopher Smith (you will bawl your bloody eyes out if you've experienced the story in this song. Watch "Story of a Boy" and "Story of a Girl" on YT for full effect)

Let's Fall In Love by Mother Mother (one of the best bands ever. They're scary as hell but genius. This song has creepy underlying tgemes of domestic violence as shown in the amazing music vid. Listen to all their stuff <3)

Take a Walk by Passion Pit (it's a sad sort of story and a very catchy song. They have some other stuff that's pretty good)

Trojans by Atlas Genius (not the best song but catchy and also a bit sad)

Raw Sugar by Metric (well, anything by Metric. This is by far their best song IMO. She has a haunting voice and the lyrics are true, oh so true)

Gimme a Chantz! by Sleepy Kitty (one of THE best indie punk-pop bands I've come across in a while. The lyrics aren't perfect but the background music and overlapping vocals will make you love it)

Colour Sky by Monster Rally (I have no words. Cuban Cigar is amazing too)

The House, Game of Thrones, and Firefly themes (I always listen to them when I watch the DVD's)

Ho Hey by The Lumineers, Big Black Car by Gregory Alan Isakov (also no words. It's music you feel)

ANYTHING BY JOE HISAISHI

Soooo many others. I'll make another later :3

Forced myself not to come on due to school. Came on these past few days due to being break. I realize that's not a good excuse and have been disappointed in myself for being such a hypocrite.

Stay on! You're missed! D:

Thought of another few songs:

Bloody Sunday by Billie Holiday. I remember hearing this as a little kid and instantly fell in love with that woman. Oh, she is stellar.

I'll Be Your Mirror by The Velvet Underground. So much emotion in one song; if you don't feel anything, wow...that's crazy.

Go Outside by Cults. About Jonestown. Music video has actual footage. The last verse. Nuff said.

Belong by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. His voice. His ethereal voice ;_;

Under Cover of Darkness by the Strokes. "And they'll sacrifice their lives in their land of all-closed eyes." Only reason why I listen to it obsessively; so much meaning.
